I have reasonably noisy dog, of course he's so lazy that he would stretch, yawn and watch while the thief walked out with everything.

As far as my neighbors, they're quieter than skeletons.

See if there is a company that builds safe's around you and make them an offer on a scratch and dent.

Also, even though you get what you pay for, sometimes you have to start low. If all you can afford is $500.00 dollars, then good for you. Buy a safe that is under that and begin saving for a better safe. At least your cheap safe will lock your valuables out of sight and mind AND they are locked away from the reach of kids. It's a step in the right direction. Another thing. If a thief wants to get into a safe, they will get into just about any safe. It's just that some safe's are harder to get into. BUT, most buglers won't mess with a safe. They want to get in and get out quick. So, at least a safe of some sort is a deterrent of some sort. Unfortunately there are those that will successfully break into or steal the whole safe. But at least a cheap safe is a step in the right direction.
Can't stop someone who really wants to steal something, true that.
Huh, I didn't think find local safe builders, maybe I'll take a look down that path.

This isn't too shabby, this along with MSGT-R's recommendation is probably the best I can do for now.

I hate thieves...
And add another 100 hundred pounds of guns and ammo for good measure!

Bullet, these cheap safes from Wal Mart, and other shuch places, have holes drilled in them, sides, and bottom. The holes are for lag bolts. If the holes don't match up with your studs, then drill some new ones. They bolt to the walls on two sides, and they bolt to the floor! As stated before, if a thief wants in your safe, and he has the time, he will succeed.

I thought this video on YouTube had some good info on safes. I think it's worth a watch: http://youtu.be/ltK-bDbADa8

I'm not a fan of the weaponseducation guy, but he's not the one doing the explaining in the video.

Very interesting watch; and it has helped me very much in making a decision, I believe I will follow carvers advice and start with the security-cabinet from Wally-World. Then when I need to, upgrade to better a safe. I honestly don' t see myself owning more 8 long-guns in the foreseeable future anyway.

I want thank everyone who has taken time to give very valuable information to me, and some sense.
