Default What IS It?

Hi, I work with an estate auction company and we are about to sell an old shotgun which has pretty much rust on the top of the barrell and it is hard to make out all the lettering.
Not being much of a "gun person", I have no idea what to even call it and wondered if some of you fine folks could give me some hints.
The lettering that I can make out is: *is a letter that I can't make out
"*EW **AVEN FOR* ? *FIREARMS CO ******** CONN, U.S.A."
Any hints that you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Cliff

Thank you so much.
Here is a link to the picture of it on the auction site. If you don't mind, can you look at it and maybe tell me more. If it is indeed that old, do you have any idea of the approximate worth?

Thanks again,

It's not that old. Winchester bought out New Haven Arms Co and continued mfg under the New Haven name.

In the 1920's and 30's these were sold for a few $$$ as "Hardware Store" guns.

Your gun has little collector value and for the appearance of it in the pic probably not worth $100.

Thumbs down Re: What IS It?

I might add that O.F. Mossberg also made a "New Haven" line.
These are were the bottom of the Mossberg line.
If it is a Mossberg it's still worth <$100

Welcome cmphoto, $100 dollars sounds about right. You shoulda waited about 50 years passed down your family and then it would be worth a little bit of money
