For my dear friend Christine (Winter)

The time has come when again
Our fighting force must go
To help defend this country
From an evil, wicked foe

It matters not of how they want
To spend their lives as one
The call comes and he must go
Until the job is done

Because the duty a man has
To his country and this life
He must put ahead of others
Girlfriend, lover, wife

He must leave and do what’s asked
He knows what he’s fighting for
The safety and freedom of us all
That’s why he joined the Corps

So now we send our prayers and hopes
To our dearest friend Christine
Hold your head high, and don’t fear
Be proud of your Marine
