Funny you should mention Chuck Schumer.

Back in 2004, some folks in the hobby rocketry community, tired of over-regulation by the ATFE and their improper classification of rocket motors as explosives, despite the exemption in the law for "propellant actuated devices," got together with Senator Enzi and put together a bill to provide for hobby rocketry enthusiasts to resume their hobby without excessive Federal involvement.

Chuck Schumer killed it without even looking at the merits of the bill. When asked, he said "if it saves even one life..."

What a complete and total moron. *WHY* do the people of New Jersey keep re-electing this putrid waste of oxygen?

There is such a difference between the city dwellers and the rural folk.
We have very gun-friendly laws here in Arizona, but I'm amazed that we can hold onto them. The majority of the state's population is in the major cities: Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff. We elected a democrat/woman/androgynous governor. The cities, particularly Phoenix, are experiencing explosive growth, and most of it is PRK (People's Republic of Kalifornia) rejects. Yet our state house, with reps from each district in the state, is predominately republican.

Are the "subjects" (not citizens) of those states not caring enough to vote in someone who actually supports and defends the Constitution (and I mean all ten amendments of the Bill of Rights) or is it just too difficult for a newcomer to throw out the entrenched demagogue of their state who continues to show the rest of the United States why the Democrats chose the jackass for the party's mascot?

Well, New York politics is easy to understand, and is the BEST example of why we can NEVER let the Libs change the "Electoral College" in Presidential elections!

Remember, I was born and LIVED in WNY for 21 years...in the COUNTRY, or as they called it, "out in the Farms..."

New York has PLENTY of good people, good conservatives, gun owners, farmers, "country folk." In FACT, I have traveled ALL over the Eastern US, with a little west of the big river thrown in, I can TELL you, (Especially from my last job ib the "Farm Store" Industry) once they got past the "funny accents," the cattle farmer from Georgia, the tobacco farmer from Kentucky, the dirt farmer from Iowa, and the Dairy Farmer from Cattauraugus County New York would have MORE in common with EACH OTHER, than any of them would have with people from NYC, Atlanta, Lexington, or Des Moines!

The problem with New York Politics, IS New York City. A state politician CAN get elected to State office without venturing much farther "upstate" than White Plains! Now lately, it's tougher, so Hillary and Schumer OCCASIONALLY show their faces in Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse...but that's about ALL. When I was a kid, Buffalo and Erie County USUALLY balanced each other, the City was ALWAYS run by Democrats, while the COUNTY (and it's a BIG county!) was ALWAYS run by Republicans. That's why that county gave us Jack Kemp, and I VOTED for him several times, and he had NO problem showing up at our little high school or town picnics...where as last time I was home, BOTH are now DEMOCRAT...and the County is now BROKE. In fact the Dems and Republicans in Erie County can't even agree HOW much they are in the hole...one side claims like $100 milion , the other says it's "only" $67M

And they are going to "keep" the "temporary" 9% sales tax in place instead of "lowering" it to 8 1/2 like ther rest of the state because of the "emergency..."

It IS the liberal social dependency in the CITIES of New York that corrupt the whole damm state! I would guess it's the same thing ALL over the NE. When I was younger, I always thought if they would just cut New York off at White Plains and let NYC become the 51st state, it would be better for MOST "Upstaters..."

And it's a shame....some of the BEST deer hunting, Pheasant, Grouse, Woodcock, hunting, trout fishing, Walleye and Northern Pike, and Musky fishing, plus all the great vineyards and wineries, the fruit farms, and some of the most BEAUTIFUL country in the WORLD, all behind the "Iron Curtain" of the Liberals. AND the population is FLEEING (most of the BUSINESSES left long ago...)

The GOOD news is that the NE is going to lose MANY seats in Congress after the next census, but they STILL get to keep their 2 more and more liberal Senators!

For those that still don't see it, if we lose the "Electoral College," then NATIONALLY we will end up JUST LIKE New York! To win, all you would have to carry is the big CITIES! (I.e., the BLUE states?) ALL of us "out in the sticks" would get SCREWED. And they wouldn't even bother to ADVERTISE in our states, much less VISIT them to campaign...

What you describe for New York, Polish, is frighteningly similar to what has happened in California. I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley about 20 miles south of Fresno. Forty years ago California was a decent place to live, arguably one of the best in the country. Now it is a bankrupt haven for crime, violence and brilliant ideas like drivers licences for illegal immigrants. Population is centered in only two places: the megalopolis of Southern California and the megalopolis of the Bay Area and it is those areas that control the politics, the farmers and tradesmen in other areas of the state be damned. When the liberals and socially dependent hangers-on gain control, the result is inevitably disaster, both social and financial. California is loosing its tax base with extreme rapidity. Corportations by the score are moving to places like Colorado (where I have lived for 10 years), Texas, Nevada, and other states where free enterprise is still the order of business. Countless others--individuals--are leaving also, but consider who those people are. They are not the socially dependent, but rather the well-educated and hard-working contributors to society. Whom will the California liberals tax when all the tax payers have left? Maybe they'll survive by eating their own young.
