I'm getting a 1911 to replace my Mak. I figured a 1911 would fit my size L hands better and wouldn't dig into my pinky knuckle (the bottom of the Mak mag kept hitting the pinky knuckle on my hand, making my hand grip the gun awkwardly). Thanks to everyone giving me recommendations, I really appreciate the help and to toughs giving me moral support in the background.
The next issue of business is what does one recommend thats not over $600-650 (I saved my pennies and the selling of the Mak will add some more the pot). The Makarov for sale.

For that price range I would go with a Springfield GI45, The new High-Standards also are good guns

I was considering Springfield and Auto Ordinance, but I just wanted peoples personal exspearances and such. Out of the box, mostly.
Edit: I'm gonna talk to my local Gun dealer, tomorrow (maybe) so if anyone if interested beforehand in the Mak, give me a ring. If I don't talk to him, I'll post an ad in the Buy, Sell, Trade forum.

The Springfield Aromry mil-spec 1911 is within your price range and has much better sites than the GI model. Also check the used market for a Springfield "loaded" model or a Kimber.
Good luck with your purchase. |

My vote goes to Springer....either GI or mil-spec. I've been happy with mine.

Does Taurus have a 1911 with low profile sites?

Well, the majority say Springfield. My next question is:
Parts - Availability of parts, primarily the major parts, aside from frame and slide. Warranty - How is the warrenty? Handling - How does it handle with someone with a glove size L - XL Minor Adjustments - Twiking and sight adjustments Labor - Me fixing, in case my warranty goes out and I still have/need it.

I reckon Springfield can be compared to Ford or Chevy in the parts area...they been building their machines a loooong time. Whatever you want is already in place or exists in quantity.
Warranty...all the gun dealers I shoot with carry Springers for ccw. Nuff said. Handling. Words won't help ya there. It's kinda like a woman...you're gonna have to pick her up and go for a dance on your own, just the two of ya to see. Adjustments/labor....it's a 1911. No sweat. Good luck.

I hear that the taurus warranty is the best one...It goes from hand to hand, (like a personal sale) correct me if I'm wrong.

True on the warranty, but I really don't want another gun with a hooked front sight and a screwable back sight. Besides that, the cheapest model they produce is $700.
My local gun dealer said Springfield is the better choice with the better quality 1911, even the cheapest model. I'm gonna get the Spinger, after the Makarov sells.

As I said earlier, I don't like the sights. I know Taurus is a great brand but 3 dot isn't for me.
