Reminds me of a Beetle accident I witnessed.

I think it must have been opposite day when they chose that name for their car.

A car like that would be even more deadly for a guy like me who often gets pretty bad gas! There's no room for the cloud to dissipate!

While I am not a fan of the smart car, I do not think too many cars would do too well in that accident.

Looks like a dump truck would be safe. I'll take two.

You would be correct. Smart cars are tougher than you think. Any car and even some trucks would have been crushed between those 2 large trucks. Look at the front end damage on the rear truck.

Edit: BTW, it's a Ford Escape SUV, not a Smart. http://www.snopes.com/photos/accident/smallcar.asp

Also, check out the rim that is visible. It's a 5 lug, Smarts have 3. The evidence backs it up.

Wheel: couldn't have just been a "pimpin'" smart car? I've seen some pretty stupid looks w/cars and their wheels lately.

I'm beginning to be skeptical of EVERYTHING.

Well if it is pimped and snopes lied (which happens, but look at the evidence), then someone did an awful lot of pimping by re-building the body panels out of metal. I don't see any plastic panels laying around the accident scene. I do see an awful lot of bent metal.

Watch the hailstorm of plastic! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju6t-...layer_embedded

Don't worry. It really is a Ford. That hoax/pic has been floating around the net for a while now. Most likely started by someone trying to justify owning an oversized, overpriced monstrosity.

My justification for owning an oversized, overpriced monstrosity is 'cause I WANT TO AND I CAN!

Why do people have to JUSTIFY what they have?...FREEDOM!

I'm sure I'm going to hear something about the gas mileage and the burning of fossil fuels that create CO2 that the EPA (Extreme Progressive Assoc.) has now said is a greenhouse gas...wonder when we are going to get the crematoriums (sp?) to help rid us of those awful senior citizen CO2 expellers...?

Saw that little rascal for the 1st time in Amsterdam, circa 2002. Very European, able to duck and weave and park efficiently in those narrow streets all too common "over there".

Several years later I found myself in Califorinia on business as well, patiently listening to a flaming liberal on the vertues of the smart car and why he was on the waiting list for one. Whew.

We actually have a few of those little puddle jumpers running about here in Crossville, TN.. believe it or not. Not my cuppa tea.

Yep. I drive a full sized sedan because I can get 33mph on the highway in it, it's quieter and more comfortable than a tiny new car that touts 28mph (or whatever the chosen number.)

Hmm, there is a bright red Smart Car in my county, but I have not seen it since the first snowfall.........

If you got two...you'd have a pair of skates...

We've got a few here...they scare the crap out of me.

Would the Germans drive them on the Autobaun?

Exactly! Tell that to the small car hater that started the hoax last year. I have a truck, a small car and a Harley. Each has it's purpose.

I like my 'over-sized, overpriced monstrosity'. I can pack a week's camping gear, supplies, and two full-sized (over-sized?) dawgs and drive in comfort.

I wonder how many trips I'd have to make driving a Smasket in order to bring a cord of wood to my house? Or how many trips a Smasket would need in order to bring 2,000 pounds of ice-melt to my job site?

Ooops! I'm "justify-ing"~

A friend of mine said...let them all buy them...then when they need a truck, I'll rent mine and make some money.

I don't think they go fast enough for the autobahn.

If it fits your wants, needs and desires...buy it small or not.
