Welcome to TFF!

It was made from 1943-1948.
Used as a military training rifle; shot a really old leftover in U.S.N. Boot Camp!
Is it stamped "U.S.Property" ? Also; some were shipped to G.B. during WWII; these will have a stamped "crown" at the reciever/barrel. These markings affect value.

Can't give you a honest value without pics; "fair" can de interpreted a lot.

A guess; based that "fair" would be $80- $100; more or less!

rimfire mossbergs aren't really collectible like winchesters, but the 44us is one that is desired by mossberg enthusiasts...depending on its physical condition and if it has all of its original sights (these can get more than the rifle as a whole) and where you're selling it from; it's around $175-$400...if it's really ravaged and missing sights, $100-150

No "crown" stamp, No U.S. Property anywhere, but, both sights are there. I will try to post pics as soon as I can.

I bought a 44US this summer. It has average wear and has all the sights including peep sight and original sling swivels. The seller had it advertised at $100.00 so I snapped it up within an hour of it being listed. I think I got a pretty good deal for a complete gun. As pilote pointed out, the sights alone would bring $110.0to $150.00. Again as pilote pointed out, there is quite a range depending on condition, if it is complete and where you are located.
