Does anyone make an overbuilt 9x19 pistol for taking loads with pressure/recoil beyond +P+, IE the loads used in SMGs like the MP5? My USP seems to handle +P+ loads without a problem but I might pick up something that can handle really hot 9mm loads instead of a .357 if one exists.
For an idea of what I mean of "beyond +P+", Super Vel, and the 42,000-50,000 psi stuff some people use in Uzis, HKs, and 9mm NATO. You may be wondering "Why not just get a .357?" Well the main reason is I like high capacity autoloaders and straight-shooting bullets.

Get a 357SIG.
9mm +p+ runs about 1300fps with a 115gr bullet. With a 357SIG, you can easily push a 124gr bullet to 1400fps, and a 115gr bullet close to 1500fps. Put another way.....357SIG loaded to maximum performance would be the equivalent of a 9mm ++p++, if they made such a thing. The nice thing is that even at maximum load levels, 357SIG is still operating within SAAMI specs. Last edited by Glocker; 10-27-2004 at 10:12 AM.. |

![]() Seriously though....I own a G31 and a G33, and they're great guns. So far, they've handled the hottest handloads I've been able to feed them with no problems. I did replace the recoil spring in both to reduce muzzle flip. I think the factory springs are a bit light. Other than a Glock, I'd look at Sig and Springfield XDs. |

I'm very partial to any of the Browning-FN Hi-Powers, particularly the Practical, my favorite.
So far mine has handled anything I feed it without any problems.

If size and weight are no issue, I don't think a Ruger can be blown up, if the recoil spring is adequate. They have about the thickest chamber area on the market, which is the area of concern with high pressures.
Hope this helps... Terry
