Default .38 SPL Colt Offical police

I am interested if anyone could give me the manufacture date and/or value.

Not sure what info you guys need so here ya go:

a) caliber
b) bbl length (from cylinder to muzzle)
c) grips shape (round or square)
d) number of shots/cylinder bores
e) type of sights.
f) serial number
g) Model


a) .38 S&W Special
b) 6" barrel
c) not sure on a Colt
d) 6 shot
e) Fixed, Half Moon front
f) xxxxxx
g) Officer's Model

Having serial #489938 makes it made in 1923 (486000 - 501999).

Also it is an "Army Special Model" and/or "Officer Model" not an "Official Police".

If the barrel is marked "Official Police", the revolver has been re-barreled.

Its value will depend on what it actually is, what part of the country you are in, and how badly someone wants it. If it has not been rebarreled, etc. A gun shop is likely to offer $100 to $250. A gun shop selling it might ask $800 or more.

I suggest that you go to several of the Internet gun auctions see what is being asked and actually bid for similar items.

Thank you very much. It does say Officer Model, that was my mistake.

Wow, its older than I thought, I was assuming 1930s.
