Default Learjet

This is a superb aircraft. Looks good, flies great, fast or slow is no problem

Maybe all you all could throw some money in the hat so I can buy one?

Might make a TFF get together a little closer to reality.

Wrecked that airplane many times before landing it. I'll keep it short here; I took off from somewhere at night, zooming above bothersome clouds for hours, then got sleepy. Wanting to go to bed, I saw a hole below, cut the throttles, rolled over, and pulled down into a dive toward the runway below. LSS, it came out just right, I dumped the gear, flaps, and Klingon deflectors, landing the Lear for the first time ever.

Bonus Aviation Question: What is a greaser, and part two would be to describe it, if you have ever been lucky enough to do it.

In being lucky enough to slide one in, are we talking on the FlightSim, or in real life?

Real life, White Hawk. Congratulations, if you have ever experienced a greaser. What I speak of can't be duplicated on demand; it is more an accident after many landings. It just happens, but all you contestants need to desribe it before being considered for the gold cup.

The only time I've experienced a long, low-approach at minimums was as a passenger on an Embraer, slipping into Newark a couple of years ago. That was cool. I waited until I was the last passenger to leave the plane, just so I could stop and congratulate the pilot and co-pilot.

"What was our ceiling?"

"About 800 feet."

"You really slipped it in there."

(big grin) "We (meaning pilots) don't get that lucky often."

I've never done a greaser with the 172. I'm more of a fair-weather pilot. My dad is the one who has landed in 30-knot crosswinds, with ice on his wings, etc.

White Hawk - A greaser is when an aircraft settles so gently on the runway, you don't feel it, you just suddenly realize you are rolling on the mains down the runway with the nose wheel still aloft. I did it once in a Piper Colt during a solo cross county in western Washington circa 1962. I was just trying to execute a normal power off approach and landing to get my logbook signed. Purely an accident, like a hole in one on a short par 4.

Happy Landings! - Greg

I've never heard it called that. Oh well, maybe it's a regional thing.
