A baby girl has died at a government hospital in India's northern Punjab state after doctors removed her from an incubator because her parents were too poor to pay the 200 rupees ($3.63) needed to keep her in it.
The baby, born prematurely with jaundice on July 20, needed incubator support to survive, state health officials said. Hospital authorities provided the incubator for two days but on Wednesday night asked Sanjiv Kumar, the child's father, to pay 200 rupees toward electricity charges needed to operate the machine. Kumar, an unemployed house painter in Jalandhar, 252 miles north of New Delhi, did not have the money and was unable to borrow it. The hospital authorities removed his daughter from the incubator and she died a few hours later. "We begged and pleaded with them to keep our child alive in the incubator and that we would pay them the money later, but they refused," Kumar said. He claimed that the nurses also removed the saline drip from the baby for nonpayment of dues. The baby's mother Sunita told the Hindustan Times newspaper: "They killed my child. I pleaded that my husband needed time to arrange the money, but to no avail and the baby was taken out of the incubator." Read more: http://www.windsorstar.com/Hospital+...#ixzz21yhR0fSE

Sihk's are very different
they seem arrogant but its a thing closer to pride its how they think men should be , but get em in a trench and incoming fire , good folks to have , same attitude dont allow em to show fear , great joke tellers in a fire fight .. serious.. lotsa different types be careful , some of em are good folks tarhiti ( almost wiped out by islam) Christians but 1 and 2nd century style Christians ( most easternly Christians and some folks use em to say Jesus traveled to india , but the Tarhiti folks never claim that only some western experts the Tarhiti say 5 families of traders came to their valley in the 1st century and brought the early faith with them ) they too wear turbans as they come from that same area , again great fighters , good folks , cant judge by looks mate , "by their deeds" and by their works Last edited by jack404; 07-28-2012 at 11:21 PM.. |

The healthcare system here is great if you can afford it. I now work for healthcare and taxes. I could easily retire as my house is paid for I have a 401k and two pensions.

our public system is on its 5th attempt its in the news now for a NDIS ( National Disability Insurance Scheme) where by the people pay the government in case ( self funding healthcare , we gone full circle with the government replacing the insurance companies )
Australian NDIS google ita a great scheme till you real;ise they allowed $1 Billion for a trial of 20,000 folks , what will it cost to run the nation? with 450,000 disabled 650,000 elderly , and where and how is it to be funded ?? healthcare under the public system here has died in the butt , there are more beaurocrats than healthcare workers and when they cut they cut healthcare workers , not middle management not admin front line staff go .. 4 hours wait if your non urgent surgical min.. a mate got clipped by a car on his bike last week and waited 8 hours with a busted arm not enough staff , not enough doc's too many "closed" wards' ( cut backs ) half the hospitals are either empty or closed and Britains worse .. Blessed are the healthy there |

Isn't India one of the countries that Obamma holds out as an example when talking about his health care package?
