Default Tack cloth???? What is it??

Awhile back, Rugerniner sent me a beige colored cloth that was sort of sticky! I did not save the package and I would like to get more. The cloth works wonders for removing rust and is extra good for cleaning the carbon buildup on the front and back of my revolver cylinders and backstraps. You can scrub them all day with a brass brush and hoppes and it doesn't come off! Rub it a few times with the magic cloth and it disappears.

Does anybody know where I can get these and what they are called?

Auto Body Shops used them to wipe down a car before they painted it.That's the first time in years I've heard them mentioned.

I don't think these are the same as the ones the auto shops use, but similar. These were designed for cleaning guns!

I think "tack cloth" is correct but also "tack rag". Probably find them at Home Depot, Lowes or True Value. They are used to wipe up sanding dust prior to painting mostly. Probably also can be bought where they sell auto body supplies.

I get a similar cloth at a local gun shop. The rags carry their name. they cost 1.99 each. I use them frequently and in-betwen cleanings. Allways carry one in my range bag.

I am not sure if it's the same or not. E-mail me if you want more information.

I think what you are looking for Pa is a lead cleaning rag. They are sold in gun shops. Great for taking the lead and powder rings off the face of a cylinder! I have one at home. If I remember, I will post the brand name.

Is this what you want? "Pro-Shot Lead-Clean Gun Cloth. Made for stainless steel and nickel finishes ONLY, (NOT FOR BLUED OR CASE HARDENED FINISHES)
Remove lead and carbon from the face of cylinders and muzzles by simply wiping off or, cut into patches to remove powder, lead and copper fouling from bbl and cylinders."

I want several. If I can wipe crime off, I'm all for it. In fact, do they sell stocks?

I'm buying.

(No offense meant, Swwebo, I just saw that and couldn't pass up the obvious..)

Tim,in the Midway Master Catalog#2 on page 292 in the lower left corner there is the following."Tipton Metal Magic Gun Cloth" it says,This non-abrasive cloth does it all, removes rust and tarnish as well as carbon, lead and copper fouling.Works great on all metal surfaces. #623-952 $2.95 This sounds like what you're describing?

Check this one out -- it's what I have in my shooting box:

http://store.kleen-bore.com/store/chemicalcloths.html

I cut little patches out of it to clean up leaded bores. Works pretty good.

Just checked back --- This is the one on Rugerniner's pic.
