I have a Lefever 16 gauge doublebarrel Shotgun with the wording "Nitro Special - Lefever Arms Company Ithaca New York." It has serial number 158418 also has a marking of a 4 on one barrel and a 2 on the other. Also a PT stamped on the barrel. I would like any information that anyone can give me on when it was made and the possible value today.

According to this web site
http://doublegunshop.com/dgsnos3.htm it looks like your shotgun was manufactured in 1922. What it's worth I have no idea. I am currenly inquiring about a Lefever 12 gage side by side and no one a offered up any advise on worth either. Last edited by Feetiesiz; 03-14-2007 at 10:51 PM.. Reason: misspellings |

I don't know where Ward read his information but the Blue Book of Gun Values gives the following info.
Lefever Arms Co. Nitro Special. 12, 16 20 gauge or .410 bore, 26 6o 42 inch barrels, various chokes, boxlock, extractors, checkered pistol grip, Made 1921 to 1948. Values: 100%-$450, 98%-$395, 95%-350, 90%-$300, 80%-$250, 70%-$225 & 60%-$200 Add 20% for 16 gauge, add 50% for 20 gauge and add 200% for .410 bore. Fair value is what the buyer is willing to pay and the seller will accept. |
