Here is a full auto one for $16,000 All NFA rules apply
http://www.subguns.com/classifieds/i...uery=retrieval

Here is a semi auto gun, Bobcat manufactor H&K will run around $4,000
It is basically the same gun
http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976740483.htm
The playing I have done with them Full Auto and Semi-Auto they are accurate guns. They shoud make a decent defense gun

Funny, southern, but my experience with a full-auto MP-5 compared to a full-auto Thompson that looked like it had lived through WWII, was the Thompson was the more accurate. At least, it shot tighter groups in full-auto than the MP-5.

Of course, that is a ridiculously small sample to draw from, as it was ONE EACH of the two guns.

Everyone has his own opinion. I have fired (rentals) a full-auto Thompson and a full-auto MP5 on several occasions. You can keep the Thompson. Give me the MP5.

I have full auto Thompson and MP-5's...they are different beasts.

The Thompson is a well built tank from another era. Its weight makes it controlable. The MP-5 is a modern design and its ergonomics make it controlable.

I've fired both, Gungal, and I must agree with your assessment. I've always liked the Thompson, but part of that, I think, is simply my interest in older firearms. You must admit though, it's a hard-hitting old beast! The MP-5 (sometimes called the MP-5/10) is simply one sweet submachine gun to use, whether you like the 9mm or 10mm version. H&K also made an MP-5/40 in .40 S&W, if I recall correctly. I understand these weapons have now been discontinued in favor of the H&K UMP (Universal Machinen-Pistole) though the MP-5 is still supported with parts and service. Apparently H&K is not offering the UMP in 10mm, but fortunately they are offering it in .45 ACP, as well as 9mm and .40 S&W. If it's made by Heckler and Koch, it is bound to be a fine weapon.

A civie can own a Title II conversion, this means a HK94 that was a registered sear or registered receiver conversion done prior to 1986 aka pre86 transferable.

There is no way for a civie to own an original MP5 since none were imported prior to the foreign MG ban found within the 68 GCA. You can find some original HK G3s brought in before that date but they are rare and pricey.

Expect to pay just this side of 20k for a quality pre86 MP5 conversion.

Here's two of mine.

And here are my USC to UMP SBR and SL8 to G36K SBR conversions.

My advice is be ready to spend a lot of money. And then contact Tactical Excellence to get the job done.

http://www.tacticalexcellence.com/

Stay FAR, FAR, FAR away from Top Notch conversion parts. Use only factory HK parts (since it will be an SBR there is no 922r requirement).

Yeah, but the MP5 is a "bit" more portable. And if I need to rock out some 30.06 there is always this.

Exactly what is bad/incorrect info?

A civilian can own a machine gun?
It would have to be a 94 conversion?
The conversion would have had to be made before the 86 ban?
There were no tranferrable MP5s brought in before the foreign machinegun ban?
The gun would cost close to 20,000 dollars?

He made several statements. Which one(s) do you disagree with?

I have fired quite a few SMGs and have always prefered the UMP with a red dot optic and laser and flash light, but it more depends on the type of house, how far you would be shooting, what would be stopping the bullet if you miss, where your family is, can your kids use/get to it(that has to do with size for hiding it). Only after you take these things into mind can you find the perfect gun.

Buy a Sten MkII.

I have one.

Its cheaper by about $15,000.........think about that for a minute.

Cheap spare part sets.......try that with an HK product.......it wont happen.

Cheap magazines.

Cheap to feed.

It will run dry as the desert with no oil.

It is one the few machineguns to STILL be in service in many military arsenals across the world since it was created during WWII.

It is very durable and dependable.

First shot placement, try that with a Sten.

There is a reason the MP5 replaced the Uzi as the SMG of choice. And it isn't because the Uzi was a bad SMG. Now if all you want to do is make the BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP noise then yes, a Sten will make that noise a lot cheaper. And so will a MAC or a Uzi or just about any other SMG honestly.

But some folks are looking to do more than just make the BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP noise. By the same token the SKS is much cheaper than the AR-15 in all the respects you attribute to the STEN, and for many of the same reasons. But that doesn't make it superior to the AR-15.

"First shot placement, try that with a Sten."

Nice of you ask.

As with any weapon proficiency and practice will rule the day.

I do.......often.

50 yds center of mass hit is no problem on a 10 inch wide plate
75 yds no problem on the same plate.
100 yds no problem but it does take some practice.

On a sten except on the MkIII, all you have to do is rotate the barrel to the sweet spot that it shoots to. Just do that before you tighten down the retaining shroud. I have 4 spare barrels marked in this way.

Making noise? NO.

Practice,.... yes....... not just making noise.
