How To Stay "Off Paper" In Colorado
-- Rocky Mountain Gun Owners begins gun classifieds

"Who would have access to these background checks? It's hard for
me to believe the police department will do background checks and
not put that information in a file. Who will get it? An alderman
with a grudge? Even if there's nothing illegal (in the background
check), who knows what will show up?.... The scenarios are
endless."

Who made the above quote?

If you guessed some pro-gun spokesman, you're wrong. The above
quote comes from a reporter who was recently objecting to Chicago's
requirement that reporters submit to background checks and
fingerprinting before getting police department credentials.

It's interesting to hear the protests from reporters now that the
proverbial shoe is on the other foot. Gun Owners of America has
opposed gun control laws, like the Instant Background Check, from
their inception.

And one of the main reasons for this opposition stems from the fact
that it's just too easy for officials to hang onto gun buyers' names
and store this information in a file somewhere, never to be deleted.

As you know, it is growing increasingly difficult to buy a firearm
in Colorado without submitting to a background registration check.
If you want to buy a firearm from a gun dealer, he is required to
phone in your name to officials before you can buy the gun. And you
are no longer able to purchase a firearm from a private seller at a
gun show unless, again, you first submit to a similar background
registration check.

In each case, government officials will get your name.

As a result, many freedom-loving Coloradoans had turned to the
classified ads to purchase used firearms while staying off-paper.
While this is completely legal, the avenues for this approach are
beginning to close.

Just seven months ago the Denver Newspaper Agency announced that it
would no longer take ads in its classified ads section for privately
offered firearms. With this in mind, where are citizens to turn?

Well, Rocky Mountain Gun Owners (RMGO) has a solution. Just this
month, RMGO opened a new website that will allow law-abiding gun
owners to legally sell their firearms to one another without Big
Brother watching and registering their every transaction.

Because the website at http://www.ColoGunMarket.com is so new, it
will take some time to fill up with new firearms and accessories.
But this is a wonderful opportunity for Coloradoans to exercise
their right to gun ownership and transfer.

Who can view the ads on this site? Anyone and everyone, anytime.
There is no registration or logging in required to view any of the
ads on this site. Simply choose the category you're interested in
and browse, or you can click on "search" to look for something more
specific.

Who can post ads to this site? RMGO members can. It's really easy
to join; just visit http://www.rmgo.org/donate.html on its website.
All of the dues go to protect/restore your gun rights. Even though
Gun Owners of America works closely with RMGO, it is a separate
legal entity and has its own fundraising base.

For more frequently asked questions -- or to learn the steps for
placing an ad -- please go to
http://www.cologunmarket.com/mkt/faq.php on the RMGO website.
