I don't say that you should run out and buy them all but cheking them out and getting what you need may be worth a little of your time. Research "Three sister's of the Cherokee" y'all might just need it Here I did it for you but it is just one of many sites http://www.uwlax.edu/mvac/Research/ThreeSisters.htm

That's a good list
![]() I have three of those ten: *US Army Survival Guide *Making the Best of Basics *Country Wisdom I can say that those three are really excellent. This is an excellent place for online free info. They sell books too but they offer lots of their info for free:http://www.endtimesreport.com/Site_Index.htm |

If you can get a copy 'Survival Guns' by Mel Tappan.
I bought a copy 25/ 30 odd years ago and wore it out. I don't agree with every conclusion and much of the information will be dated, but a lot is as valid today as then. I would still rate it well worth a read. I still have it, but its in pieces!

Has anyone here ever heard of the 'Foxfire' series of books? I have not read them since my teens, but as I recall, they offered advice on skills the oldtimers had. Things such as tanning hides, building log cabins, preserving meat,...those sorts of things. A lot of it was simply stories told by old time country folk about a vast array of subjects. Interesting reading if you like that sort of thing.
Good thread. I imagine I will order a few of the books on the list. While I'm at it, I think I will see if the Foxfire books are still available.

'Foxfire' series of books is a great source of information and I would love to own the collection, but I have spent my money stocking up
![]() I am a heck of a longs way away from the top of the heap but I can survive in any condition with little of nothing, so I am not really a D.O.C.B ( dumb old country boy) just a country boy with lots of training and skills. I am smart enough to store items that will make good trade and grow food that may well be needed soon. Or sooner ![]() Get ready because the zebra is trying to set him self up just like Chavez, Dictator for Life.

Got rid of LOTS of books the last few years. Took down whole shelving units. The Foxfire series, along with quite a few on plants, herbs, for eating and medicinal purposes. Some how to, and others. Hope I never HAVE to read them....again.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good choices..I dont have a specific title..but surely there must be a book or guide to say... "the back roads into Canada ".... that might be a good read if it gets like some are predicting..... of course...for lighter enjoyment reading ..while hunkered down ,,safely in one's bunker..and reading by the candle light...I suggest a book I have remembered since youth...and have always enjoyed the title..... " I FOUGHT the Tiger "..by Claud Bawles..... ![]() Last edited by 1shot1k; 03-09-2009 at 01:44 AM.. |
