i would liek to say hello to the forum since i am new. my question is this: I live in virginia and i was wondering about the gun show laws. To be able tp purchase a handgun at a gunshow you just have to be 18 years old from a private seller correct?

Check your local and state laws but it's probably 21.

If you buy from a private seller correct. If you buy from an FFL dealer you have to be 21 to purchase a handgun. Private sellers are not subject to BATF Regulations only thing they are required to do is to not "knowingly" sell to someone who is a minor or who couldn't legally buy a firearm otherwise. Thats the gray area and the loop hole so to speak and the reason gun control laws are a joke to begin with. You can have a handgun in your possesion as long as you aren't a felon or a minor under 18 but you cant purchase anything but a long gun from a store or FFL Dealer if you are 18-20
