Ok I went to the range today ,it is the gun club I just re- joined ,the range was full and a buddy talked me into shooting some bowling pins ,I was hesitant at first ,I went to put some of my first loads on paper ,but he was persistent , I told him not to expect much I haven’t really practiced in over a year ,so he explains the rules {says lets see what that Wilson can do} ,I stand ready “FIRE”
1,2,3,4,5 ,they all went down ,I hear “I found my new partner” ,I wound up shooting about three hundred rounds at just bowling pins ,and I have to say it was the best time shooting ,so I am going to buy some from tac ,so when I go during the week I have my own supply ,I found my loads of 4.0 grains of bull’s-eye with 230grain fmj worked best for me

i don't think he will be razzing me anymore about the price of my wilson

Sounds like you had a blast (no pun intended). I'm gonna have to try shooting some pins one of these days.
Whats the rules? Just set 'em up and try to knock 'em down like bowling?

did you ever shoot falling plates??? that's real quick,six in a row
3" dia set 8" apart,excellent fun!!! if you find a bowling pin shooter who's been in it for awhile,ask him about the second chance shoots,nothing but bowling pin shooting for a week,prize money and everything.

I just make 'em up as I go...don't know what yer supposed to do in an official Pin shootin' match...

The bowling pins are set midway on a table ,three across two about 24inches on pedestals
At only 7 yrds ,You have to shoot them “off the table” , during a match you have a partner ,you both shoot at your own pins for a total of ten pins ,after you shoot yours you can help your partner

Well i be all these years of shooting pins and there are rules. Man that would have made it so much more fun. Thanks for the links. I went shooting this weekend it was beutiful outside. I shoot my s&w 629. Fell in love all over again. Last time we shot the pins we shot them with .40's Tore them up pretty fast. Good thing the local bowling alley hooks us up. Glad to hear you had fun.

Maybe i just play rough, but these are the pics of my test run the first day with my "new to me" SKS i was suprised by the tiny entrance holes but i suppose it's because the plastic coating will actually retain some of it's shape after the bullet has passed, but needless to say i'm in the market for tougher plinking targets, prob steel plates with that puppy

and the gruesome aftermath . . .

After showing this to a guy i work with he has vowed to start P.E.T.B.P ( People for the Ethical Treatment of Bowling Pins) and put an end to my tyranny !

John, If using FMJ you might wanna go with stronger steel than I did.

Test using 7.62x39 through Mini 30, on 3/8" Jr Beam

Those are some great pictures. I always have this scenario in my head of a just in case if there was a 3rd World War and I would get drafted into the military, what would I do once in the field. Where would I hide when in a city escaping Ak-47 gun fire. What would be great cover from Ak bullets?

NOT behind bowling pins or 1 ft X 1ft wood beams, they offer little to no protection . . .so if and gun fight stay away from the bowling alley for protection

i'm going to the range after work today if my wood block is down there still i'll snag some pictures of that got some cool hits on the side where you can see the wound channel in the block from the HP, sorta looks like a cut away
