If former New York City Mayor Rudy Guilliani gets the Republican nomination for president would you vote for him?

I am not a great fan of Guilliani, but given a choice between him and any of the leading Democratic contenders, he would get my vote in a (pardon the pun) "New York minute." I don't like his position on many things, particularly gun control, but I think in 2008 we conservatives are going to be faced with a choice between "bad" and "much worse."

Absolutely, without a doubt, YES. The alternative is unthinkable.

Anyone who smugly stays home on election day - because our nominee is a Mormon, or is vague on gun control orthodoxy, or is too socially liberal on this or that - is the problem and not the solution. We will hand the White House to another 8 years of Clinton sleaze and lunacy if we permit ourselves to be conservative purists who get blinded by the trees obscuring our view of the forrest.

WAKE UP CONSERVATIVES AND FIGHT HARD AGAINST A LIBERAL DEMOCRAT TAKEOVER!

When our nominee is selected please volunteer. Work a phone bank. Assist with mailings. Talk to your friends and neighbors. Write a check. DO SOMETHING to get our candidate elected.

Wow you guy's are fast! I hadn't finished posting this poll and you already had voted!

I'm trying to gauge if the average conservative would "hold their nose" and vote for Guilliani, to defeat Senator Clinton or go away mad.

The columnist Kathleen Parker makes some good points in this article. She basicly says most women will not vote for Senator Clinton simpoly because she is a woman. It is fair to attack her on issues and caracter. BUT if women feel she is being attacked because she is a woman that may gain their sympathies.

I saw the Parker article and it made me think about the left and their media buddys trashed Linda Tripp and Kathrine Harris. I don't remember hearing they got much sympathy. If the media was not biased I think it would not be a big factor.

Her support for Abortion is enough for me, and I know I can speak for my wife on that count. I don't even need to go into another issue. Guliani's stance on abortion is very similar to Mrs. Clinton's, therefore I would have to hold my nose to vote for him as well, I just hope he doesn't get the nomination but, like I said, I'd vote for ANYBODY against that witch. Elmer Fudd, Batman, The Joker, Dan Quale, The Shadow, Al Capone, etc. etc.

Disqualifications, as far as I'm concerned are:

1. Support for Abortion. Period.
2. Any advocation for Gun Control of any kind.
3. Anyone who voted for the McCain / Feingold Bill
4. Anyone who has been shown to be an adulterer, or an enabler for an adulterer.
5. Anyone Divorced, who filed the divorce. Jane Wyman filed on Ronald Regan, and I would definitely reelect Regan.
6. Anyone who doesn't wish to keep President Bush's tax cuts permanent.
7. Anyone who wishes to raise taxes on anyone, anywhere, for any reason.
8. Anyone who wishes to expand the size and scope of the Federal Government in any way.
9. Anyone who supports nationalized healthcare.
10. Anyone who wishes to "change course" in Iraq by leaving before the job is done.

Firebird, could you expand on your "NO" post. Do you see yourself voting for the Democratic party nominee, a third party candidate, or are you hoping for another Republican to get the nomination? (or you can tell me to mind my own business )

By the way I like your new avitar!

Also your being one of the few women on TFF what did you think of Kathleen Parker's column?

I'm tired of voting against someone to not get elected. I will seriously consider a 3rd party Candidate, if it comes down to Rudy & Hitlery.

Bruce, I can understand how you feel, and I considered that as well, but it is often self-defeating. I suspect the liberals would like nothing better than to split the conservative vote giving the election to Hillary.

Wow!! Someone actually asking me my opinion?!?!?! I'm so flattered!! Thank you!

Okay...

(1) Both parties have yet to make their respective nominations, but even so, I haven't decided for sure who I will vote for as I still have more research to do before I feel comfortable making my mark next to any candidate;

(2) (And this is more in response to other posts) As we all know (all too well, I'm afraid), the Republican party (as a whole) pulls on the "Christianity and traditionalist" strings while the Democratic party pulls on "our rights" strings. Well, that's all fine and dandy, but I think way too many people actually believe what these--ON BOTH SIDES--politicians are regurgitating. The fact is, people say what they think other people want to hear. I never once said on here that I was a Democrat. Yet, I am quickly deemed as such because I question and argue about things. Do you honestly think no Republican has ever cheated on his wife?? Or a Republican woman--or *GASP!* even a daughter of a well-known Republican--has never had an abortion?? Do you think no Democrat is an avid hunter?? Or no Democrat a Christian or traditionalist? Do I agree with abortion? No, I do not. Do I believe in human rights? Yes. Do I believe in women's rights? Yes, I do. Now I'm not trying to be Gloria Steinem here, but no man can ever or will ever understand what's it's like to be raped and faced with the possibility of being pregnant from that rape. I have. Thank God I wasn't pregnant. Would I have had an abortion? My knee-jerk reaction is "No!" But in all honesty, I don't know. But I sure as hell wouldn't want to go through that living hell of being raped then getting pregnant from the bastard only to have to fight for the agonizing decision I made. Do I believe in abortion as a form of "contraception"? Absolutely not.

(3) Just like "any adulterer and/or an enabler of an adulterer"...Again, do you honestly think no Republican and/or Republican candidate has cheated on his or her spouse?? And further, that spouse (aka the "enabler") is still with them?? Within reason--again, don't miss this guys--WITHIN REASON, I don't give a rat's ass about the personal lives of these people. None of them are any different than you or me. None are any better or worse. If your life was put under a microscope, what would we find?? A few skeltons to be sure (some more than others). We're all human.

(4) To say that you would vote for ANYBODY--no matter what heinous CRIMES they inflicted on MILLIONS of INNOCENT people--just so they were on the Republican ticket is despicable to say the least. Maybe you're trying to be funny or dramatic or maybe you don't really know a lot of history or maybe you mean it...whatever the underlining reason, I'm literally appalled. Admittedly, it's a crapshoot all the way around and it's really choosing the lesser of two evils (again--all the way around), but still.

(5) Lastly (I know everyone is thrilled!), the article. While Parker's article isn't exactly "award-winning" writing, I do generally agree with her. She makes a very good point about the reason women would (or will) vote for Hillary. It's not unlike the "good ole boys" system. Now I haven't compared the numbers Parker gave to other research, but just going by what she said in her article, yeah, I can see that. Some of the other stuff she said was a bit hookey and not entirely true, but the overall premise is fairly accurate, in my opinion. It's like seeing goofy pix of Hillary (there's been several on here who have posted them and/or used them in their sigs--it's not that I'm so terribly offended by them as I really could care less), in all honesty, I do naturally feel a tinge of sympathy for her. Whereas, I can't readily say I feel that toward any other politician. (Side Note: it's really a moot point to make such a big deal over goofy pix of her cuz there are goofy pix of EVERYONE--actor, musician, politician, etc.) However, I can honestly say that tinge of sympathy would not get her my vote either. Other women may work like that, but I don't.

Anyway, thank you again 17thfabn! You're kindness is greatly appreciated!

I'm not trying to nit-pick here, but whether you like Hillary or not--whatever floats your boat--it is really offensive to refer to her as "Hitlery" and how you would vote for Hitler or whoever...You're not a fan of Hillary, great, fine, whatever...regardless, she never brutally slaughtered MILLIONS of INNOCENT people. Maybe you think it's funny--and I'm all about funny--but that's not. I'm not trying to be mean here, but maybe you should go watch (or watch again) "Schindler's List" or read up on a little history of how Hitler made paper and lamp shades from the skin of the people he massacred. It's comments like that, that will make Parker's article come to fruition. And for the record, if someone referred to Guilliani or McCain or any other Republican candidate as Hitler, I would have the same response.

Sorry I fell off the PC wagon on my last response. Though there are acct's Bill & Hillary being responsible for the deaths of people they were involved with. This was posted on this Forum awhile back. It has to be true! I read it on the Internet!

I realize voting for a 3rd party, would have the same success as Perot & Nader. There will come a point where the 3rd party has to come into fruition. Maybe the Mid Road Party? I fear the 2 Parties will just keep dividing the Country. I try to not pay attention to polls, but, If it comes down to Rudy & Hillary, & Hillary looks like a sure thing, then 3rd party gets my vote.

I have yet to be asked any "tough" questions, satellite.

But the "bow to her" comment is fairly accurate.

Glad to see you thoroughly read through my post and didn't miss anything. Sure would hate to know that I spent all that time typing up an honest and sincere post only to have a closed-minded person make a completely inaccurate comment.
