Default Re: old powder questions

Like most Winchester powders, once you find a perfect load with it, they discontinue it. I've had that happen three or four times now. Really pisses you off when you spend a bunch of time developing a pet load and then can't get the components anymore...

Win Action Pistol...Gone.
Win Magnum Rifle ( I think that's what it was called )....Gone.
Win 540 ( again, I think that's what it was )....Gone.
And so on...

I've almost quit using Winchester powders just for that reason.

On the other hand, the ENTIRE line of IMR (formerly DuPont ) powders is still available, and hasn't changed a bit. The wierd thing is, that IMR, Win, and Hodgdon is all the same company now. ( at least as far as powder goes )
