Old Smith & Wesson - What is the value?
Smith & Wesson, 5 Shot Revolver Double Action .... What caliber is it ... there is nothing marked on the barrel? The inside diameter of the barrel is approx 3/8". The barrel is 3-1/4" in length. There is a string of patent and re-issue dates on top of the barrel. The first date is: patent Jan 24-1865, and the last reissue date is Jan 5, 1882. The serial number is 267781. This S/N number is marked on the bottom of the handle and also on the cartridge cylinder. It has a blued finish but most has turned to an even aged patina on the surface of the metal. It has about 30% of the original blue. Balance of metal is a gray/brown patina. All original. The barrel to frame lockup is tight but there is a very small amount of wiggle when closed. Automatic ejector works perfectly. Bore is bright and shiney with clearly defined rifling. There are some very minor pitting spots..... What is the dollar value to a collector?
