Default Small town Patriotic Fourth

I posted about our small Texas towns annual celebration 5 years ago. This year was our 10th but I wanted to let all know that in spite of what all is going on in our country, there are still folks that love and celebrate the USA. I live outside of the town of 300 but we have a parade that began as 8 bicycles and now has fire trucks, tractors, bicycles, motorcycles, horses, and many others forms of transportation. My wife is dressed as the Statue of Liberty and I drive the 3/4 ton truck with our 4' x 9' flag unfurled on a 10' pole, while the stereo was up playing The Star Spangled Banner. The parade went through the little town of Mount Calm and when folks saw the flag they were taking pictures but when they heard the Star Spangled Banner being played they were putting their hand over their hearts and singing the song until it was past. The end of the parade came to the library/community center where folks gathered inside for a program that started with a prayer of thanks TO GOD for the freedoms we have and for guidance through the times we are in. We all said the Pledge of Allegiance, and sang the Star Spangled Banner, God Bless America, The Grand Old Flag, and God Bless the USA. The names of all area folks that had served in the armed forces were read out loud. The culmination of the program was a closing prayer for God's divine guidance to be on this great country of ours and on our service men and women, where ever they are. In spite of what takes place around the country and the world, there are still a lot of folks just like those here who love the flag and the country it represents. Most of you on Firearms Forum, I believe are of the same type. To you all I am proud to say, keep up the faith and remain united. God Bless the USA.

Gotta love small towns. I'm from and still live in the sticks and the Mrs. is from a small dying town where the typical graduating class is about 25 kids. My FIL is the village president and on the board of the local American Legion and through his persistence the annual small town summer festival is still going and gaining popularity again. When the parade starts and the Legion walks through with the color guard EVERYONE stops what their doing to show their respect. Awesome sight to see.
