It seems to work pretty well for most, just click on the chat icon and type in your user name, then chat away. There were bunches of forum members last Friday, it was a good time.

I'd like to join you all, but tonight I'm gonna so some gun cleanin'. I think this might be as close to a chat room as I'd like to get, as my typing skills mirror what they were in college. Hunt and peck. About the only thing that I can type fast are my name and www.thefirearmsforum.com. Must be muscle memory.
