I found this forum while searching for something completely off topic. So far I have browsed around different segments with mixed emotions. I wanted to take the time to say THANK YOU to anyone and everyone that takes part in these discussions. I didn't realize just how much I had forgotten or blocked out but still remember my friends and brothers that never had the chance to grow old and feeble minded. I have noticed for some reason I can watch tv programs about almost any conflict the US has every been involved in with total interest and strive to learn the how's and why's of operations both successful and the failures. But when it comes to shows about battles in Nam I cannot watch them, I did watch the show about the battle for Hue during the Tet offensive and as much as I try to keep my hard exterior up I find my self with tears. I don't know if I am asking for understanding or even where I am trying to go with this but again THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

Welcome to the forum Walker. I think you'll find kindred spirits here and you will enjoy the camaraderie.
I'm old, I just haven't been put out to pasture yet.

Welcome Walker....as soon as I saw your name, my mind flicked back to both times I was in Vietnam when my S-2 navy yeoman, Jimmy Walker become so much a part of my life...and I guess I for James....Jimmy was from Bakersfield, California and about the time I retired from the Navy in 1971, Jimmy left the navy and joined the LAPD...We still lived in Calfornia then and Jim used to come up to Ventura County to visit us...Once Jim presented me with a brand-spanking new S&W Model 49 revolver he'd got at the LAPD supply...still have it...I told him that he didn't need to do that and he reminded me how much he claimed I'd done for him....That's a fine name Walker...stick around and tell us about 'things'...it sure made life simpler for me when I began telling folks that war is not glamorous....Chief

Thank you to each and everyone here. I started a simple reply and noticed that I almost had a full chapter written that was more rambling than anything constructive so I am starting over and keeping it simple. It does help more than I realized to let go but it is still hard and maybe before I start pushing up daises I will learn how. Until just overlook this old fart cause I mean well no matter how much I growl.

Most likely this has been posted before but I remember the first time I saw a copy of it. It was hanging in the entrance of a restaurant and when I stopped at looked at it in depth tears were streaming and basically it broke through that outer shell that nothing gets past.

Walker, I'm known in most circles as offering up a lot of unsolicitated advice and counsel...don't mean any harm by it, and if I am ever made aware of the facts personally by someone I've offended, I standby with a tactful apology...I was very serious when I mentioned that it helps talking about it...writing about it....asking others how certain things effected them...You can readily see how frequently I appear on these postings....It wasn't always that way for me either and when I broke out of the old reclusive mood, I realized the benefits of telling stories...asking questions...comparing notes..The last post you made of THE WALL...I haven't mustered up the courage to go look or even the mobile one that comes around...That's the only word I can think of....COURAGE.. We called him different names...a former marine who used to be on here a lot...I called him GUNNER...others called him SIXTY....Frankly I'm not sure of GUNNER'S name but he lived in the midwest...St. Louis area I think..had a little daughter he was so proud of and would post pictures of her for us...I think he went on to his own site...GUNNER was a real player during the TET/HUE operations...I think he was wounded more than once...If you know HUE and the CITADEL you'd sure hear things about the joint from GUNNER... Hey GUNNER, front and center...let us hear some of your stories again and look at some of those on-site photos you had...Walker, you've been introduced...maybe GUNNER will see and honor this request.....Chief

Try this one as well. It's the sister to this one. It says handloading but it has
a lot more than that. They are both fantastic sites. http://shootersforum.com/forumdisplay.htm?f=32 Zeke |
