I'm new to the AR world and want to start reloading for it. Do I need to get small base dies or use regular full length dies?
Thanks for your time!

You might. I have 3 AR-15 and several other semi-autos and none of them require a Small Base die, that said, yours may.

If you buy surplus fired brass, you may need a small base die to return it to something like normal size.

Nope, I'll wager standard dies will work just fine. I reload tons for several 223 rifles and use standard dies. Never had any problems whatever. However, as stated, your milage may vary.
I would load about 20 rounds and try 'em out and see, but I bet they will feed just fine. If they do, load a couple hundred and have a fun day at the range. |
