What history can you tell me about the 30 Luger caliber? Is it in production and by who? Is it a cheap round or expensive? Compared to the 9mm is it superior or not?
Thanks

Google is your friend. There is a Wiki and several other references.

I have a Luger chambered for .30 Luger. It is basically the 9MM necked
down to .30 caliber. It shoots a little 90 grain bullet that's fairly flat shooting and very accurate. It has very little power as a defence round. The story is that after WW1 the Germans were told they could not have guns 9MM or larger. They took their Lugers and rebarreled them to .30 Luger. Same gun, same clip, just a different barrel. Slip a 9MM barrel onto a .30 and you have a 9. Germans are pretty smart guys. The Browning Hi-Power came chambered in .30 Luger for a while. There are still some around. It's a fun little cartridge but pretty obsolete. Better off with something more modern. Zeke |

The 9mm Para. evolved from the .30 Luger, aka 7.65 x 21 mm., and 7.65 Luger as a request from the German Army to adopt the Luger pistol as a standard issue, in 1902. The .30 Luger itself, was introduced in 1898
