PRESIDENT Barack Obama confirmed today that suspicious packages found aboard cargo planes in Dubai and central England contained explosive materials. Earlier this morning US fighter jets escorted a civilian plane to New York after it was determined to be "an aircraft of interest" as it flew into Canadian and then American airspace, the US-Canadian military agency NORAD said. NORAD did not identify the plane in its statement, but US media said it was Emirates Airlines flight 201 from the United Arab Emirates, and was intercepted because it has cargo from Yemen on board. "Out of an abundance of caution, the North American Aerospace Defense Command diverted two Canadian CF-18s to track a civilian aircraft that was determined to be an aircraft of interest as it flew into and over Canadian airspace,'' NORAD said in a statement. "The civilian aircraft was passed to two US F-15s as it transited into US airspace and its ultimate destination at JFK airport." TWO other suspicious packages intercepted on cargo planes in transit to the United States were addressed to religious institutions in Chicago, the FBI said today as Jewish synagogues were placed on alert. Aviation officials said planes at Philadelphia International Airport and Newark Liberty Airport in the US were towed away to be checked after police found a suspicious package on a US cargo plane at a regional British airport. The US Transportation Security Administration said that it was monitoring reports of potentially suspicious items. "Out of an abundance of caution the planes were moved to a remote location where they are being met by law enforcement officials and swept," the TSA said. Authorities in Britain confirmed that a suspicious package had been found early today in a freight distribution centre at East Midlands Airport in central England. I was sort of thinking that the packages were set up to be found. Like they were trying to test our response to it.
What do you think Jack? |

How did he find the time to do his actual job whilst flying Air Force 1 all around the country with his huge entourage at OUR expense trying to drum up votes for HIS party. I's certainly like to know how much money that us taxpayers paid for all of his and his wifes trips and associated costs like secret service, teleprompter programmers, etc. has cost us. I thought he was supposed to be everybodys President. Sorry for getting off course here. I was just amazed that he found time to do his job.

Yemen is a cesspool of terrorist activities. Its government doesn't have control over the entire country, poverty is rampant and we are now going to give them almost a billion dollars of taxpayers money to help them fight Al Qeada. That'll be like throwing money down a rathole. A couple of A-bombs would be cheaper and surer.

I am suspicious of the timing of this whole thing. obozo goes on the air and sounds like he is in charge and taking care of things just days before the upcoming elections. Smells fishy....

I am still wondering about the printer cartridges containing PETN that were bound for U.S. synagogues. Were they or were they not in a state which would detonate when received or used? I've heard conflicting reports.
From what i've read it requires a detonator. I couldn't find anything about a triggering device. So why if it were a test run would they use an actual explosive, but if on the other hand it was actually intended to blow things up, wouldn't it contain all the required components....unless it was intended to be received by someone here who would then prepare the final components for it's use. But synagogues??? |

Maybe we could use the ones that Obama wants to deactivate anyway. Save the cost of dismantling.

Turn those surplus nukes into glass-paved self-lighting parking lots.
Good idea, Jack!

Al queada and other terrorist organizations are not only operating out of Yemen, but they are relocating to N Africa too and have been for some years.
Where the Gov is weak, islam is growing stronger. This of course is excluding those countries that are not sharia law already. Speaking of sharia, I don't see why the US or any other freedom loving country would send any aid in the form of cash to a place that is based on Islamic law as Yemen IS. They are getting stronger every day while the world sits back and basically does nothing.

The source of the problem over there in my opinion stems from two places. The Palestinians and the Iranians. I also find it difficult to believe we can't beat them. Didn't our Navy SEAL teams and Delta Force basically wipe out the Medellin Cartel in Columbia in the early 1990s? Our CIA was able to topple & overthrow dozens of governments with considerable ease. Many of whom were more well armed and who were a more hardened fighting force than some Muslim terrorists. I don't think they want this to stop. With a war to fight, lots of businesses over here make a profit. There's a lot of money involved in it. Don't get me wrong. I do think that there is a threat out there. But let's face it. What did Iraq have to do with 9/11? Did they ever find the WMDs? I guess it's better now than it was. But the question is, was it really worth it? Also... I don't know what the rules of engagement are as I have never served in the military. But military leaders say they need to be changed. So I don't know why our politicians don't trust their own military leaders enough to listen to what they have to say and do it. Last edited by hogger129; 10-31-2010 at 08:41 PM.. |

Anyone ever stopped to think that this whole "Yemen" thing could be a diversion so we take our eyes of off Pakistan where Osama is thought to be in hiding?
What if we simply pulled our military forces out of there, drawing out these people, and then we get em? |

Look Osama is Good for Buisness in terms of politics. In the name of Osama and the Taliban and Terrorism we have had Policy after Policy and Homeland Securiety shoved down our throats. Our government or other world governmsnts have absolutly no intention of getting his hide.

As long as they can go on conducting these "wars", without actually winning, they can pass more unconstitutional laws, implement more socialist programs, and tighten the UN's noose around our necks. |

One more thing...
If you're in the habit of ordering ammo online, you might think about stocking up quickly before they tighten up shipping restrictions in the wake of this. |
