What is the best way to clean the front of a revolver cylinder?
I have been using a fine scotch brite but I have been told not to do this because of the abrasion factor. Thanks for any help I can get.

Welcome to TFF.
To clean the front of the cylinder, use a toothbrush dipped in Hoppe's #9. It works for me. |

Hoppes # 9 is good...I'll tell ya another little trick....scalding hot water, dish soap & a thooth brush / bore brush...you can clean the whole gun this way (except the wood) and rinse it with clean hot water...shake the exess water off while the metal is still warm...oil litely

I use one of those Lead remover cloths, but that's on a stainless .357. For a Blued gun, I wouldn't use it.

You are all going to be in shock about this, but here goes anyway,
I use permatex hand cleaner I apply it on top of the powder residual and just before it dries a soft rag or a toothbrush just wipes it off! |
