You guys help a Cop out. What is the best 1911 to carry concealed for my off duty needs? Preferably something with a light weight frame. Anyone like or dislike the Springfield Micro? I carry the heck out of my Procarry II which has the aircraft alluminum alloy frame but a commander size.

The smallest is a 9mm and it is the Springfield EMP it comes with factory night sites and a lot of other extras. Other than that I have always liked the Colt compacts

Have to agree with punchie. The colt Defender is hard to beat. i have carried one for about six years and am very pleased with it.

have you considered the kahr mk40?
or the pm40? my old man used to have both, and the mk40 holds 6 rounds and is tiny...expensive but worth it, good warrenty too |

The EXP is still too new and pricey for me. As for the Kahr I want a compact 1911 design already have enough plastic compacts striker fired. Im leaning towards the colt defender or a Para covert slim hawg which from my research is the smallest lightest 1911 made at 24oz even lighter than that high dollar EXP Springfield. Thanks for the input.

One of the guys I work with bought a Springfield Micro about a month ago. He put 500 rounds of mixed ammo through it with no failures. It's been 100% reliable so far and it's easy to conceal. He said he's happy with it.
