Default N.Y.C. Taxi drivers get bullet proof vest

In New York City with its tough anti gun laws the head of the taxi driver association is issueing drivers bullet proff vest.
Watch the movie Taxi Driver check out the underground ILLEGAL GUN sales that goes on supplying taxi drivers ILLEGAL GUNS.
This really goes on I worked in that N.Y. industry and could get any gun I could have wanted being law abideing I chose not to, and leaders looked the other way.
A law abiding citizen CANNOT own and wear a vest in N.Y.
These guys most of which barley speak english are being issued vest by there leadership
Bloomberg should investigate a industry right under his nose and I.C.E. should join in,
Bloomberg tries to promote N.Y. as the modern version of Dime Book Novels of the Wild West.

i find it interesting that bullet proof vests are illegal in NYC. not only can you not shoot back, but it appears, if shot at, you have to take one too

I don't know if a bullet proof vest would help a taxi driver.
From what I've seen on T.V. they need a bullet proof
helmet. They do need a camera mounted that will at least record what
the bad guy looks like.

I hate the term "bulletproof vest" because it's not really bulletproof.

But what kinds of body armor can civilians buy in the US? And do you have to register it like you do with automatic weapons?
