I loved his tv shows & movies. Then I found out he was just a pinko commie Obama cheerleader. So, I won't miss even a little bit.

I'm sure I never missed an episode. Another great song and dance man left to history.

He never won an Emmy

Despite starring on two of the most iconic series in TV history, “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Matlock,” Andy Griffith shockingly never earned a single Emmy nomination for either show. (By contrast, his “Andy Griffith” co-star Don Knotts took home five Emmys for his supporting role as bumbling deputy Barney Fife.) Griffith’s lone Emmy nomination came in 1981 for the TV movie “Murder in Texas”… and he didn’t win for that, either.

But he did receive a very special honor in 2005: the Presidential Medal of Freedom (left), the highest award a civilian can earn in this country.

I have to agree. I used to watch Andy and Matlock and enjoyed them all. When I saw him doing adds for that Socialist Pig running this country and promoting the Obamacare lies, I lost all respect for him. One less vote for Obama, which ain't such a bad thing.

Oh, without a doubt the show was the best. It gives one a view of better days gone by. IMO those that was the best time era to be in.

I grew up in Winston-Salem, NC just down the road from Mt. Airy - the town Mayberry was modeled after. Lots of Mayberry history and trivia there....

We were just in Mt. Airy last month. The residents there said Goober died a couple months ago. Thelma Lou still lives there.

Not to speak ill of the departed, but character actors and actresses, like Barney, Floyd the barber, Goober,Opie, Aunt Bee, Etc. made the show. When Don Knotts left, Floyd died and Opie grew up, it was never the same. I never watched Matlock. Bluegrass music was really Andy Grifiths first love and he just didn't have the measure of talent to be successful at it. Still, he was an icon.

You are mistaken...the show first declined when Barney left and was replaced by Warren. The death nail was when Andy left and was replaced by Sam and the show changed names to Mayberry RFD.

Andy actually wanted to be an opera singer before the show.

God rest his soul. I grew up watching the Andy Griffith show and Matlock. He was one of the greats for sure.

Actually he was a commie nutjob right from the start. If you've never seen his big movie then I can understand why you don't know that. Go find a copy of "A Face In The Crowd" which shows Griffith's disdain for the entire democratic process IMO. He pegged all politicians as con men and low lifes. Of course many of them are but not all of them. It's been said that the movie was made to slander the people who tried to rid our government of commies. They ridiculed all those people (like McCarthy who's name is still a dirty word to leftists but was proven to be 100% correct by later revelations about intercepted communications between the Soviets and their spies in the US). The movie could be seen as an attack on McCarthy who IMO was the most unfairly maligned figure in American history.

At any rate all the people on Andy's show turned out to be leftists in fact. Ron Howard proved what it was like on the set of the show. They portrayed this perfect version of America but off screen they seemed to hate everything about the US. That's a typical leftist IMO. Notice how saintly Andy solved all their problems while the poor dumb slobs of Mayberry led their merry lives without concern for anything and when they did get involved it always turned sour. Again that's a typical leftist ideal. Let good old Andy (Soviets) run things for you. You can trust him not to send you to Siberia to a gulag. Really. You can. Just be sure you're ready to rat out everyone you know whether they're guilty or not.

Like everyone else I loved the show. It was Barney that made the show IMO. Floyd was good too before he had the stroke. And Gomer was good. Andy and Aunt Bea actually hated each other btw. I'm guessing she actually liked America.
