I beleive it is ignorance of what they are missing. Women seem to fear guns the most probably because they have never shot one before or some nummy gave them a 12 gauge shotgun when they were a teenager and laughed as they watched them fall down when they fired both barrels accidently due to no training (it happened to friend). Young men tend to get introduced to guns at some point in their early life while young women rarely, if ever, get that chance. So fear sets in. Several of my friends mothers use to watch us shoot at target with air rifles. Finally they got talked into shooting them and we lost our rifles for the rest of the day. They just kept shooting. My daughter-in-law "hated" guns until I took my son and her for some target plinking. While she hasn't gone again (the situation has not come up what with the new young family) she admitted that the fear was not necessary and professed to enjoy it. I always tell people who question me as to why I shoot that it is like bowling: It is fun to hit the target and try to get better every time I go shooting.

So take a women to the range, train them, and help them to learn to love to shoot. I have taught several women to shoot and all, but one, really enjoyed it. One even bought her own target pistol! A converted mom (or not a mom) beats them being part of the Million Mom March!

I was ready to jump in here with both feet, something along the lines of "Separation of" but naw. Don't think so. As I am only a hischool type that drove around the country getting in everyones' way for too long a time I feel, and rightly so, that altho MY 1st amendment rights are just as valuable to me as theirs are to others, I will desist, not having the vocabulary or the "book learning" knowledge that some here seem to have attained.
Having said all that, and wether anyone or no one agrees or disagrees, and I reallly do not give a red rats a$$, I do not think invoking God's name and paraphrasing the Bible has any significant place OR use here.
Maybe I was the one that missed the point, but let me reiterate once more, it is MY 1st amendment also

Judge, thanx for the bouquet but I don't rightly know about the "common sense" bit. Seems alot of that was scttered to the winds many moons ago on a few of the "mean streets" I used to frequent in my younger and stupid days (and nites). Seems like we grow old and dopier. that's a word? At least in my case. Oh well it feels good to vent once in awhile even if nobody listens.

Mike, I have enough respect for everyone on this board that I feel I can debate an issue without such hurt feelings that "someone has to leave."

Honestly, if someone expounds on a topic with views totally opposite of mine, without degrading me in the process, we can, in my opinion, carry on a perfectally normal conversation in the very next thread, it all boils down to respect.

When it comes to "new or old members" it is kinda hard to tell anyway...When we made the move to this site the actual 'dates joined' didn't follow us...And as far as post count goes, some post alot, but there are a few older members who have quite low counts... But I know what you mean there.
