Had the fires occurred in a Democratic baliwick I'd bet the administraiton's response would have been far different !
FWIW, aerial firefighting has become far more politicized in the past few decades ! In my formative years this sort of flying was pretty much "wildcat" - aka individual enterprise - modifying vintage WW2 aircraft and moderns to "do the job" neccessary ! The only "government" involvement was the FAA, checking to see the aircraft received annual AW inspections, all mods were "typed" and pilots met applicable license standards. So WITH did this - which is only the latest in a long long list of recent events, (the CA/AZ fires of a few years' back come readily to mind) - fiasco come from ? It reeks of political opportunism, as the "vics" are primarily "red" voters. >MW
