Default Catholic Bishops Call For Two Weeks of Action Against Obama

Catholic Bishops Call For Two Weeks of Action Against Obama

Roman Catholic leaders are calling for two weeks of public protests against President Barack Obama's policies as they intensify their argument that the administration is engaged in a war on religion.

The days between June 21 and July 4 have been set aside by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops which has sought to end the administration's contraception mandate, among other policies.

The protests against the Obama administration’s policies could be “the game-changer” in the presidential election, one leading lay churchman told Newsmax on Tuesday.

The protests, dubbed “A Fortnight for Freedom” will be an “unprecedented, aggressive attack” against policies that church leaders see as an assault on religious freedom, said Catholic Advocate chairman Deal Hudson.

Why not have the action again the first week of November?

Religious leaders have fought a losing battle against the power of technology and television. I don't think the Pope has quite the clout he had in the 16th century, but I can hope something can be accomplished, even if they did support him in the beginning...or so I'm told.

Only two weeks?? Obama has spent a lot more time than that trying to flush releigious freedom down the toilet.

Don't care if it took awhile for them to spot the Fakir at least they know now.
I will stand with my Catholic bretheren.

I'm for it. But I think they would have been better served to hold it through the months of oct 15---nov 15.

Good point. They chose their dates based on an ecumenical calendar:

Quote:
The dates were picked to run from the feast day of martyrs St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More to Independence Day. “This special period of prayer, study, catechesis, and public action would emphasize both our Christian and American heritage of liberty,” the bishops said.
But also for political reasons, to bring it to the nation's attention before the conventions.

Quote:
two weeks of protest in mid-summer will help put this before the conventions and make it a major issue in the campaign.”
Quote:
Republicans are hoping the protests, planned for June and July will have a major bearing on the election which will follow four months later. They look forward to TV shots of robed priests and nuns being led away in handcuffs.
But four days, let alone four months, is a long time in politics. The issue needs to be kept "alive".

I think this is great, BUT!!!, I remember Most of them were for Obama during the 2008 Election; mostly a pro illegal immigration stance.

Are they admitting they made a mistake or will they all be for him again in November.

My twelve years of Catholic School Education tells me they are more concerned with feathering their own nest i.e.: Obama's pro illegal immigration , pro homosexuality, anti-gun, pro government welfare and (believe it or not) his pro Muslim stances; than starting a Catholic movement to preserve the Constitution.
