Getting an FFL today is hard. The BATF wants you to have a store front, ideally. They only want legitimate real operating business. If this is not you I suggest you give it up or find one of these FFL sites that has found a way (correct wording on the application forms) around this requirement. I know of people who sell out of thier homes or at gun shows only but they are not nearly as prevalent as they were 10 years ago when I had an FFL.

If it is a FFL for operating a gunsmithing business you might find it easier to get an FFL since you can open your "store Front" at gun shows only and the BATF might be happy for you to get an FFL so they can keep track of you. For gunsmths it adds a bunch of log keeping as every gun you take in that is not returned that day has to go into your log book. This gives the BATF an opportunity to see exactly what guns you are servicing (another trace path for them). Legally you can not do Gunsmithing without an FFL but you don't need a store front to be a gunsmith, especially if you only do gun shows.

Anyway you have to get the application right or they will deny you an FFL.
