Default Gun carrying man ends stabbing spree at Salt Lake grocery store

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A citizen with a gun stopped a knife wielding man as he began stabbing people Thursday evening at the downtown Salt Lake City Smith's store.

Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon. Smith's employee Dorothy Espinoza says, "He pulled it out and stood outside the Smiths in the foyer. And just started stabbing people and yelling you killed my people. You killed my people."

Espinoza says, the knife wielding man seriously injured two people. "There is blood all over. One got stabbed in the stomach and got stabbed in the head and held his hands and got stabbed all over the arms."

Then, before the suspect could find another victim - a citizen with a gun stopped the madness. "A guy pulled gun on him and told him to drop his weapon or he would shoot him. So, he dropped his weapon and the people from Smith's grabbed him."

He did it right. He just saved himself alot of attorneys fees. If he had pulled the trigger, he would have spent the next 5 years dealing with attorneys and he would live a life of hell. In fact the media would have made him out as a killer with a gun. Just like you SARG I would prefer the boom first, but in this world everyone is sue happy and it leaves some devistated. I think he did the right thing. Don't get me wrong, I like your thought's, but this is a weird world we live in. If you notice, the name of the man with the gun is still withheld. Why? Because even though he did not shoot and did what is right, he is probably getting an attorney. It should not be that way. It is too bad.

I totally agree...but it's not often jack gets beat by another member on something like this. Just wanted to mark the occasion.

was meaning it was cool that US folks are getting to the US stories before me .. as is the case too often , also means you aint as filtered on all things as what used to happen

the MSM is losing out to the independants , especially online , and commercial pressures are becoming bigger than political ones , and so the news is getting out more and more recently .. last year , heck you folks didn't know about half the stuff i was posting ..

obamacare , exec orders , all that was off limits , so yea good to see folks a looking for and posting this stuff ..

( means stage 2 can begin ... )

Gotta agree with you 76Highboy, saved himself a lot of grief while still stopping the bad guy.

Al is upset that the man with the gun didn't use it. Hard to get racism out of this story but one way and we all know that will not happen......

Is it sad that my first thought was thank God it was a knife and not a gun. I'm really getting tired of blaming guns all the time. Did you know, and this was a shocker to me, that guns don't kill people? Some body actually has to pull the trigger. I had know idea. The media always makes it out to be the guns fault.
