Good Sunday Morning to all of you---I hope this finds you all well and prospering--that you are being treated kindly by all who are fortunate enough to be around you. Recently I have related to you about our search for a new and smaller home---our present 5 bedroom home it just too large to cool and clean and care for. About a week ago, we found such a model home that really 'lit the fire', so we put a hold on a lot, and chose the home style to be built. Ever heard the quip, 'BUYER'S REMORSE'? Well, it is an oft used terms in sales interactions, so let me tell you about mine. Perhaps the last car or SUV you saw, that really tickled your fancy, turned into a real 'money pit' when the bells and whistles (options) were tacked on. Bet you were left breathless, but you were too proud to squirm and wiggle, so now your monthly payment leaves you 'breathless' and squirming.
Same with the new home we selected to have built on our chosen lot---the model home snagged me like a Creole fisherman snags a big old channel catfish---ceramic tile floors, Berber carpet, overhead fans and lights, extra parlor doors, natural stone fronts, insulated cement blocks. Land Sakes, I was like a hungry old hound dog in a smokehouse full of hams and bacon-- "we'll want this and that and several of those". Well Pilgrims, I must tell you, that very soon the affordable home we so desired, exploded from 1.5 K dollars to almost 2.0 K---the view lot overlooking a landscaped desert wash, was a grand extra by itself--at least in that particular case, a single story ranch wouldn't be overwhelmed by a giant two story house 20 feet over the fence!!! You know, perhaps I sound like the fox and the sour grapes, but I must tell you, as I tried to 'sleep on the deal', horror dreams invaded my reverie, so early next morning I contacted the realtor and screamed into his ear piece, 'NUFF ALREADY'!!! Everyone was very nice about my backing out of this deal and cheerfully refunded my 'earnest money'---they even assured me that I was not the first 'coward' who showed up to 'arm wrestle' a good deal out of them-- eventually my pride returned and I become as humble as a church mouse---all deals are off, and as I look around this big old familiar house, I remind myself how very fortunate I am to have such a lovely home. I know every crook and cranny---painted over a lot of stains that may have been mustard or catsup, put there when the kids/grandkids were eating their hotdogs and practicing fast pitches at the same time. Plugged a lot of nail holes where pictures, now long forgotten, had once adorned the walls. Yup, maybe we were just getting 'uppity'---you remember 'uppity', don't you? And you---yes, you---stop complaining that you've put on a few pounds---life is good and you're eating well--maybe not as healthy as you should eat, but when was the last time you took a box of SEE'S chocolates back for a refund---they did give you the receipt--come on now, 'fess up Puritan, little fibs still count against you. Yesterday afternoon, when I was driving away from the model homes, after having cancelled all the paper work, I did have a slight pang of regret---it lasted a nano second before some heavy footed kid in a big tall SUV that must have cost mega bucks, honked his horn and went by me like I was standing still---he waved at me, but I couldn't really tell the position of his hands or fingers--just a young, friendly, overspent young whelp, on his way to his third job---that tall truck such as that one, must have really heavy paper, a big monthly payment, but it sure was impressive. Wilborn

So now, about that fox and the sour grapes.....have you made any other wise decisions lately?........LOL
You haven't said, did you decide to get something else or are you adamant about your decision to stay in your comfortable, familiar home ? Hope
