Do any of you live in a mega city and if so do you like it , why?
I live in a very small town one red light, one grocery store and no movie theater. I love it Pensacola is close 40 miles it isn't New York City but they have about anything.
I just like small towns and think when I retire (again) I will try to find a town with less then 250 people in it.

I grew up near NYC, in New Jersey, I had 1500 people in my high school. I now live in a small town in Missouri. There are slightly less then 1000 in the whole town. I amazed my kids when I took them back there a couple years ago. They got to swim in the ocean, see the World Trade Towers(before 9-11 obviously), and see my old school, which is a three story building. Their jr. and sr. high is in one, single story, building.
I have had the chance to go back, but I like raising them here. I feel like they are learning better values, they're safer, and I've taught my boy to be a pretty good shooter.
By the way, no red lights here at all.

For the last 10 years, and during all the days of my boyhood, I have lived in a small town. I have, however, lived in large cities--Southern California and the Bay Area--at different times during my life, usually for professional or career reasons. Never, ever, again! Ten years ago the wife and I decided "enough is enough" with all this hassle, violence, and snotty, uncaring people. We up and moved to Colorado, took more than a 50% reduction in income in the process, and never looked back. Money is nice, but living where one is a person rather than a number is nicer!

I grew up in a small city in upstate New York...........and lived in many large cities during my life..( Nev., AZ. , Cailf. and etc..........................I will take the small city anytime.

For the last almost 19 years now I've worked in and around the NYC metro area as my office is just above the city line. Wouldn't move there in a million years though.

Born raised and live at the opposite edge of the state in a small town with no traffic lights. There were 30 in my HS graduating class. Surrounded by woods, mountians, ponds and lakes, I wouldn't move in million years. Wait.... I won't be around that long. Oh well, you get the point.

ive lived in Housotn all my life , except for when i was in the army. now housotn is diff from most big cities, lot of small hometown folks , first geners, have move here so the poeple here are very nice. also you can drive 20 min. in any direction, and you are likely to find some stables, and people still riding horses, there are also a lot of small towns within 30 to 45 min drive from houston, they are still very rural. so to me housotn has everything, i imagine that pensacola may be a lot like that, especially cities in the south, and south west. Every year some big organizations do sampling to find out which cites are the most charitable, the top 10 are allways form the south same with the states, mississippi usually top s the list, even though they are the poorest state in the nation.

I live in a relatively small town in NJ. The town is fine, the state SUCKS. Nope , dont want to live in a big city. The 2 things I like best are a hassle there. .Guns and cars. too many citys have a socialist mentakity. NYC,DC,Detroit. Screw that.

I grew up in Houston, just one block over from Bellaire High School. When I was 16, my parents moved to Atlanta.

Both big cities have some "small town" advantages that you don't see in some of the other large cities in the US. I especially like living in Tucker (a suburb of Atlanta) as it has a very small-town feel, yet I'm real close to any "big city" features that I'd care to enjoy. Yet, when I want to get away even further, I can head out to rural Georgia with ease.

I jes' love the South!

I lived most of my live in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, LA. I retired to rual Missouri. I love it here. It would take A LOT to get me to move back to a city.

I'm a small city boy from Maine. Growing up we had maybe 14000 in our city. living on the very outskirts was more like a small town though. very few cars and most families were all long time residents or relatives. To me Boston was huge. That all changed. My wife is from the shadow of NYC. I couldv'e moved there. NO WAY! My in-laws now live just outside Houston, TX. I could move there and pretty much retire. NO WAY! There's absolutley NOTHING about big cities that do anything for me. Dirty, polluted, overcrowded, snotty people in a big hurry to get nowhere...not for me. I live on the same piece of property I grew up on. Can barely see my neighbors. Can hardly hear any vehicles. Same families still live here. Got it all too; mountains, rocky oceans shores, beaches, woods, hills, and within a 2 hr drive Boston and a few more hours NYC. I'll stay right where I am.
