Does anyone have any advice on putting hammer spring and keeper back into place on Marlin 336. Gun is all together but the spring is bloody near impossible to compress so as to push the curved keeper into place

It should not be all that hard. First off make sure the hammer is in the down position, not cocked. Next position the adjusting plate (thats the curved piece) on to the hammer strut and spring off to the side of the top and bottom tangs. The curved side is up top and it should curve towards the front of the gun. On the bottom tang you should see a notch cut out. that is where the bottom of the adjusting plate goes. Start feeding the bottom of the adjusting plate into that notch. You can angle the adjusting plate however you need to get it lined up. Once the plate starts to feed and has a good bite on the notch, push forward and down on the top of the plate. It will then dive down under the upper tang and then you can push it under. Once its partially in place you can slide the plate across and center of the tangs. This is what it should look like in place. The hammer is cocked in this picture but make sure yours is down when you do this.
