It is a 1911a1 and the marking to the right of the serial number is an indepenedent stamp, almost like it was added after the s/n stamp was. After reviewing the link that OscarMayer sent I scrolled done half way of that page and it has the S/N in a range of the 1911a1 with a mfg date at 1945, that is if you add the 1 to the serial number and it generates a 7 digit S/N. I am probably going to go ahead and purchase the gun. Once I get it I will post some pictures. To me just learning the history of the weapon is worth the money spent. Thanks.
