Mine was a old 3 screw Ruger Blackhawk in .41 Mag with 4 5/8" barrel. Was a great gun until I sent it to Ruger for the mod update! Came back with a "trigger from Hell". Dang, that thing was sweet before the mod.

Mine was an Iver Johnson .38 S&W that Dad gave me, given him by a girl friend when he was 16, which had been her father's as a cop on the Bangor, Maine, PD. He was killed in action on the streets in 1918 during riots associated with WWI.
My first bought was a S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece which I carried on the streets of Montgomery as a third shift loner and most of my years as a prosecutor on the hip. Next came the blue Chief's Special with 1 7/8 barrel for ankle carry back-up. All are gone now, two stolen with a home break in and the other traded for one I now have.

First LEGAL one was a little single shot derringer, with the fold down barrel. After a few (maybe 20) shots fired through it, the barrel was so loose it would not lock closed. Biggest piece of crap ever made. While most people buy alcohol on their birthday (when they are finally old enough to buy legally) , I bought a gun.

My first gin was a Colt .45. Did nto know a thing about pistols then, ( as if I know so much more now!) So my dad took it away from me. My first legal gun is a sw40ve that my brother in-law bought me as a birthday gift. Beats getting a tie, right?

My very first hand gun was a German Luger; a 1940 model w/all matching serial numbers. I bought it in the late 50s and still have it.
I've had a few others since, but current inventory consists of a Taurus P-22 (don't even ask!), a Ruger Mk II (SS w/bull bbl), 1851 and 1861 .36 cal Navies (by Pietta) and an 1847 Walker .44 by Uberti. |

When I was about 10 years old I traded a bag of marbles for a real Suicide Special. Don't remember the brand, but it was a nickle plated .22 revolver with a 3" octogon barrel....a real el cheapo. You had to pull the cylinder pin and remove the cylinder to punch out the empty brass.
It spit almost as much lead out the sides as it did out the barrel. I traded it away for a half-a-bag of marbles. The next one I got was a decent one......a Ruger Single-Six that I bought while in high school. |
