Another Push to Ban Semi-Autos Coming Soon
-- Rep. Paul steps up in defense of gun owners Gun Owners of America E-Mail Alert 8001 Forbes Place, Suite 102, Springfield, VA 22151 Phone: 703-321-8585 / FAX: 703-321-8408 http://www.gunowners.org Friday, May 23, 2003 Gun Owners of America has remained on the front lines of the gun debate during the last two weeks, defending the right to keep and bear semi-automatic firearms and magazines. Last week, The Washington Post quoted from a recent GOA alert when it reported on this issue. And when CNN invited GOA to debate the semi-auto ban, GOA Communications Director Erich Pratt sparred with a spokesman from the Brady Campaign (formerly known as Handgun Control, Inc.). At the grassroots level, GOA has launched a postcard/letter campaign to put the heat on legislators and the White House, letting them know there are millions of Americans who oppose infringements of their Second Amendment rights. But as the battle to block the reauthorization of the semi-auto ban continues to wage within our own borders, a sinister effort continues from without. In early June, the United Nations will be sponsoring a global "Week of Action Against Small Arms." "Small arms" as defined by UN documents refers to many of the revolvers, pistols and rifles that millions of Americans already own. Lawrence Auster is a Newsmax.com reporter who covered a similar UN gun control conference in 2001. He says the disarmament agenda at the UN is so blatant that it "unembarrassedly admits that it wants to strip small arms from all non-government individuals [like you] because the possession of such weapons allows people to oppose the UN itself." This upcoming disarmament conference is just another U.N. attempt to pressure member states like the U.S. to adopt more stringent gun controls. And once again, Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) is stepping up in defense of gun owners. He has introduced H.R. 1146, a bill to withdraw the U.S. from the United Nations, and he is currently petitioning the House leadership to schedule a vote on his bill. "The U.S. House routinely spends 15 minutes re-naming post offices," Paul said. "It should spend 15 minutes to answer the question an increasing number of Americans are asking: Should the United States continue to support the United Nations?" Rep. Paul is sponsoring a citizen's petition drive in an attempt to garner national support in favor of his bill. You can go to http://www.Just15.org to sign his petition in favor of H.R. 1146. As the UN has been active in advocating gun control in member-states, Paul's bill would do several things, including: * Repealing the acts authorizing U.S. participation in the United Nations, UNESCO, WHO, and other UN agencies, conventions, and agreements; * Repealing the agreement authorizing the UN headquarters in New York, throwing the UN out of government facilities, and revoking its diplomatic immunity; and * Prohibiting U.S. appropriations from supporting UN operations or "peacekeeping" efforts. ACTION: Please go to http://www.Just15.org and sign the petition in favor of H.R. 1146. Rep. Paul's bill would preserve our sovereignty and protect our rights -- especially our Second Amendment rights -- by removing us from under the UN's illegitimate jurisdiction. The petition deadline is one month from today (June 23, 2003) BAN GUNS ! MAKE THE STREETS SAFE FOR GOVERNMENT TYRANNY ! Real talk radio, if you dare : www.gcnlive.com

Hey!!!!
This is a very important issue here. I signed the petition, and I'm bumping this back up to the top. I will also be sharing it on another forum. The UN is the most anti-American entity on Earth. They represent everything that is contrary to the American Ideal. Take a good look at the UN charter, at their mission and goals. It is so easy to see the communist ideals. We fought communism for half a century and thought we had it beat. But it's alive and well, my friends, in the UN. We need OUT of the UN. |

Not too many years ago we did not have anything to
do with communist countries. Now we deal with them, trade with them, give them our secrets, were in bed with them and give them favorite nation status. I didn't do this , did you ? So who is doing this...hmmm. COLT, THE ORIGINAL POINT & CLICK INTERFACE. Real talk radio, if you dare : www.gcnlive.com www.prisonplanet.com |

Let's all hope that the recent fiasco in dealing with Iraq will show the "average" American how truely evil The UN is.
They don't want to uphold their own resolutions in dealing with a terrorist nation, but have no problem trying to overthrow the US thru "world opinion". I won't bow to our own somewhat corrupt government and I damn sure won't bow to a bunch of foreigners trying to tell me that I have rights ONLY if those rights don't interfere with the goals of the UN. The UN may have been a good idea at one time in history, but you know what they say: Good intentions pave the way to hell. |

The simple truth is, the UN is no longer favorable to the United States. There was a time when we, the most powerful country on Earth, could get our way in the UN. Unfortunately that is no longer true. As we saw with France, Germany, and Russia's opposition to our invasion of Iraq, we can no longer strong-arm our ideas through the UN. They are ganging up on us in order to topple us as a world power. Our way of thinking is not in line with socialism/communism, and they can't have that. So rather than destroy us through brute force, they will try to use the power of the UN to weaken us.
This may sound like a bad case of global conspiracy, but it's the honest truth. The UN wants to regulate everything we do. They want to ban small arms, they want to ban tobacco, you name it. They are meddling in affairs that are none of their business. And we, as a sovereign nation, cannot have that. It seems terribly hypocritical of us, though, doesn't it? After all, we just kicked the crap out of Iraq for, among other things, violating UN resolutions. We use the UN as a puppet to control other countries, but then we scoff at the very idea of having to lose some of our freedoms/rights to conform to the UN. We need to step away from this "one-world" type government. Not only does that mean getting out of the UN, but backing out of our role as world policeman. |

France is another very good example of how the World opinion of the U.S. has deteriated over the years. Now France, having pissed off most Americans has named another Movie about The Columbine High School Shooting, at the Cannes Film Festival, as the "Palme d'Or". What better way for France to get back at the United States then to name another anti-gun Movie as the Worlds best Movie. The title was "Elephant" by Gus Van Sant and was shot (is that a pun, I wonder) in 20 days. Boy, has to really be a work of art, huh?
