I have a 1911 Colt .45 that a friend wants to buy, but I can’t find out any information on the value.
On the left side of the slide it says: COLT’S P.T.F.A.MFG.CO HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. PAT’D APR.20.1897, SEPT.9, 1902, DEC.19, 1905, FEB. 14, 1911, AUG. 19, 1913 (& a Colt Logo) On the right side of the slide it says: COLT .45 On top of the slide and barrel it says: No. 1962 There are no other markings. Does anyone know anything about this weapon? I’d like to sell it as I can use the money. Thanks for any help you can give.

Old Vet,
Is there a serial # on the frame above the trigger on the right side? That's the best source to start with. And photos would help to establish value better.

Hi Old Vet.....welcome to TFF.
Just a bit of confusion here. The serial # shoud be on the right side of the frame, just above the trigger, and there souldn't be a serial number on the slide. If it's a Government Model it should have a "C" serial # prifix or suffix, and it it's a Military Model 1911, it shoud have a "MODEL OF 1911, U.S. ARMY" on the left side of the slide and no serial prefix or suffex. |
