In the .312 dia. the Hornady 150 SP and the 174 gr, RN are about your only choices. I have had good success with Speer and Sierra in the 150 gr. .311 also all have been plenty accurate for iron sight shooting at 100 yds.

Any of the bullet mfg. will give you the load data for there particular bullet. Just give them a call.

My favorites include the Hornady 150 gr. SP interlock (.312) and the Hornady 174 gr. RN interlock (.312).

My favorite load is 42 gr. RX15 C.O.A.L. 2.840" for the 150 gr. bullet. 38 gr. IMR 4064 C.O.A.L. 2.855" for the 174 gr. bullet.

Both loads are very light and I have killed deer and wild pigs with both. No need to hot rod a .30 cal bullet. Just remember the .30-30 is THE single most effective and efficient deer killer on the market and by todays standards is considered one of the weakest .30 cal cartridges on the market.

I'll second the Hornady 150gr SP too. I used that one in the 7.65 Arg. Mauser cartridge and it did the job nicely.

Check the latest Hornady manual for data or the Hogdgon Online Data Center http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp
The data Hogdgon's has listed online is for .308 diameter bullets but is the same if you're using .311/.312 bullets too. As always, start at the min and work up while watching pressure signs.

Have you slugged your bore to determine the actual size? Bore diameter varied in those old beasts and you might be able to use .308 diameter instead.
IIRC, if you search up in the Curios & Relics forum here at TFF there are several threads on what bullets to use with what bore size.

i did slug it and the slug was between .311 and .312 so i figured .312 would be the best.

Make no mistake, the accuracy potential is there. you just have to make it easier to use the huber is a great addition to a nagant
