Default retracting bids on GB?

Any body know how? A guy bid 3 times on a Garand I have for on GB, but e-mails me this morning to tell me he bid on the wrong gun. I blocked him as a bidder, but that didn't take him off the auction. It has 2 days left.

I've never seen that option. I don't think GB has come that far out of the middle ages yet.

There is no way to retract a bid on GB at all. My 15 year old bid on something and I was locked into buying it. On another note...Garand huh? My hubby would love one of those... if the bid dont work out let me know.

Just end the auction early and relist the item. I'd also give that guy a piece of my mind.

Are you SURE it was the same guy? It could be someone else trying to get rid of a bidder they're competing with.

I check the bid history, and e-mails, same e-mail address.

Ok, hopefully this is legit. But I know that people with a little knowledge can easily spoof an email address so that it looks like they're someone they're not.

I'm just naturally mistrustful around internet auctions. Too many people out there screwing around with things. It's hard to trust anybody online unless you know them personally.

OK, about coloring someone.

Red can be Anger.
Green can be Envy.
Yellow can be fear.
Blue can be Under the Weather.
Orange can be Pride.

What color is paranoid?

About the auction. I find it hard to believe he bid on the wrong auction THREE times. (actually he bid 4 times) Looks to me, like he was trying to see how high Wyatt Earp’s bid was. Now he wants out.

I will just hold him to his bid. After all it is a legally binding contract. I think it is about maxed out, I don't see anyone outbiding him.

Actually, blue would be sadness. But I think paranoid would be silver.

Why silver, you ask? Because it matches my tinfoil hat!

OK, from now on, the official color for paranoid is silver.
WOW, ya know, it matches my hat too.

richbug,
You would be in the same position if you ended the auction early, anyway. You would still be obligated to sell it to the highest bidder, as long as the bid has reached any reserve. What is the difference if he does not pay now, or later? Then you can go through the motions to get your fees back, and re-list the gun. By letting it ride, there is the chance that someone will come along and outbid him. You never know.

Well I guess it doesn't matter now. I blocked the bad guy, and a new bidder jumped in pushing it up another $60...

Kewel. I'm sure he was a deadbeat and holding him to it would not have made him pay. Eventually you might have gotten GB to cancel his account, but I don't know.

I just got the last element of my CMP qualifiers in place. Before too long I hope to be getting a Garand from that program (my first personal M1).

What's the auction link? Some of us would enjoy a look at it.

I'll probably order a couple in the fall when funds are in better shape, but right now I need the $500 for my house.

Jumping off subject, their "search" function is in the stone age. I did some GT searches which gave results in seconds.

Maybe it is my Mac browser, but maybe not.

If they don't accept forum interaction generates interest in sales, woe to them.
