Picked up a 'distressed' 2 1/2" Python out of a pawn shop in Houston. The finish on the metal looked like the grips!
Well, I fixed that and now this old snake is purty, purty once again. I've got some Pachmayr Grippers for an I-frame, but I might splurge for some scrimshaw faux ivory. Whaddya think?

Yeah, a couple of folks have said that. If I can find a 6" barrel at a good price I might switch it.

Hmmmmm, well being as how it no longer has much value and I do love a snubbie and haven't had a snake snubbie in 25 years.....hmmmm
Nice looking job on the exterior I hope the internals were not rusted up to bad.

Nah, the internals polished out nicely. Great action, times well.
I reckon I'll throw it up on the auction.

For utility, I like the Pachmayr grips. But for looks, I'd try to find a pair of new (or reproduction) Colt Python wooden grips.

I shot a 6" of my uncles. Good balance, seemed to be good quality and he said he was well pleased with it. Only thing I can think 'wrong' with it is the price tag, like most Colt products.

Pythons are cool......
Cost too much, but cool all the same. I almost got one...70's manufacture, 6", blued and in 100% condition for $500.00....but it sold before I could come up with the $$$.....oh' well....

Lemme give you all a freebie.
This old guy, Reeves Junkind, in Austin, Tx, is the best going on a python. He's a retired DPS Trooper, ran the range in Austin, for 25 years, and speaks COLT! The Python is a PITA to properly time, moreso if it has a bad cylinder, or mis-cut ratchet;still, this is the go-to guy.

The Python may be a PITA, but sorta like a Series I E-type Jaguar, what a beautiful PITA!
