Because I keep thinking "This is not the America (World) I grew up in." and while a lot of curmudgeons think like that, this time it is real and very dangerous.

Besides, I like bamboo fly rods, lever action rifles and single action revolvers. Who else but an old fart likes that any more?

As I type this Rush is on in the backround playing a parody song based on Randy Newman's "Short People" called "Old People". It's pretty good.

.....I'm taking a break from tearing the old roof off of my house to save money to offset the metal upgrade that will go on tomorrow. what a stupid idea. I've got a hit of the best pain pill I have and can't feel that it's working. It's about 95 right now and I'm racing to be finished before the predicted high of 105 sets in.

On the otherhand, just turned 46, good health, active, financially O.K., plenty love in my life and 3 great kids. Plus, the milage i've got I lived to the hilt!
I'mm looking forward to 46 more and the wisdom I should gain!!
By the way, I ain't givin' up my values for no one, and I'll fight to keep 'em

That one strikes home. My wife works for a police dept dealing with, among other things sexual offences, especially by the young. Part of my part time work results in my dealing with people who have been mislead, defrauded, just plain taken advantage of. The victims are by default the most vulnerable. Where possible, I help sort things out. We sometimes despair of the complete absence of those moral and ethical values.

Of course there have always been scum. There just seem to be so many now days.

Hey lighten up, I feel old the third time I take a wizz in the night. I feel old on TFF at 02.30 because I cant sleep, again. I feel old because I cant digest the fish and chips I ate a couple of hours ago. I feel old because despite every effort not to, I fall asleep most afternoons. I feel old because when I look in the mirror, there is some old guy looking back at me.

I feel old when I try to do any labor at all. It seems that it now takes me three days to do what I used to do in one day. I feel old when I go to bed at night and can't sleep because of pain. I feel old when I wake up in the morning, and am feeling pain. Watching my brothers grandkids playing in the yard one day. I told my brother that I wished I had the energy that they did. He replied: "If you had the energy they have, you would kill yourself in about five minutes, you old fool".

I feel old when I see young guys making fools of themselves while thinking they look cool. I smile, been there, I Know better now. I like that feeling.

I feel old because I mentioned to my 19 yr old daughter most of my teeth were not mine, having been smashed long before she was born, and she never knew.

I don't feel old at all, when I look in the mirror I see my dad he was old

I feel abused, used and tossed aside but I don't feel old ! Oh I have a heck of a time sleeping at night or staying awake in the afternoons, I get up and go to the john six to ten times a night. I know not to sneeze and fart at the same time but I don't feel old. I take my morning pills then my mid morning pills then the lunch pills and next it is the before dinner pills and end the day with my before bed pills there are only about eight pills each time so that is to bad 40 pills a day

but I don't feel old I shake when I drink coffee so I can't fill my cup and I don't feel old
When I think of all the places I have been and all the things I have done in almost every part of the planet I say to my self
"Boy you may not feel old but you sure as heck ain't young any longer"
When men in there thirties or forties open the door and hold it for me I think I don't look that old & when it is a lady that holds the door for me I hang my head and think maybe I should have shaved before I left the house but I don't feel old.

Last week I was cleaning out the closet and found some of my old 8 Tracks. my 12 year old granddaughter still can't understand what they were for!!!!!!!!

A while ago I went for a ride on a tank. As I am climbing out, a young cadet offered his hand to help.

It gets worse. Not so long ago I was in a big store shopping with mrs t and had a dizy spell. A young assistant who noticed rushed up with a chair to offer a sit down. Boy I felt old.

I feel old because I remember Reagan. It seems like Bill Clinton is almost a relic of the B.C. times when I'm talking to a teenager these days. Also because I remember when Michael Jackson was black and young.

I remember dial telephones, black and white TV, regular "leaded" gasoline, 45 rmp records, "banana seat" bicycles, F101's flying out of the local air base and Sears selling mail order guns. I feel old...
