Default I always hated Ford cars, now I know why...

Because the guys at the Ford foundation are giving financial support to the anti gun freaks here in Brasil. Now will only buy Chevy and Mopar.

I base my views of Ford on a little more down to earth type of purchases....
ie...the Ford Escort. Much like some of GM's lower end cars, it blows chunks. As far as chrysler, their trucks seem to be alot better than the used to be years ago, but i still think they are darned ugly. Forget their cars altogether...

GM's strong showings are in my opinion in their Grand AM's, luminas, the new Impalas, and Monte Carlo. I've been hearing really positive things about Buick lately. I forget the model, its a luxury car...just can't remember the model though.

And as for American made cars, the Toyota Camry is just about the best car there is out there. Everyone who i have talked to who owns one says this car will do 300k miles or more. A friend let me drive his once. Smooth ride, snappy, and the AC about froze me out of the car....and i like it cold

I am sorry to hear about ford giving money to the anti gun nuts in Brasil. I will not buy any of their products.

By the way, how far have the anti gunners got in Brasil ?? I thought i had heard pistols were alread banned or something ? Give us the details......

Check the facts, guys. The Ford Foundation is no longer controlled by Ford Motor Company. It's controlled, instead, by a left-wing nutcase. FoMoCo couldn't change the course of the Ford Foundation if they tried. As a matter of fact, Henry Ford II complained about it in 1977.

I don't know about cars but Ford is king of trucks (pickups).

My current ride is an F150 Supercrew---over 40,000 miles and never been back to the dealer for anything! My last Chrysler product (Dakota RT) on the other hand had a few problems, one was that the factory lowering of the truck was done so as to limit the ability of the truck to haul anymore than a early Ford Ranchero, yet advertised as the intermediate truck with the largest towing capacity (advertising didn't talk to engineering). That cost Chrysler a bundle as they had to buy back a bunch of trucks. The engine was the old 360 reincarnated with an old auto trans with a bolt on overdrive. That little jewel was always in the wrong gear. Part of the drive shaft broke off and spun on the shaft . That took months to locate as the spinning ring of metal only occasionally made noise. The truck before that was a Ford Ranger XLT, 4.0 with auto. Another flawless truck that only saw the dealer for a power brake booster recall.

Chrysler cars have the nod for styling, at least to me, but I sure would be reluctant to buy one since my Dakota fiasco! I kept my 1974 Dodge van until 1992 but only sold it (rebuilt motor and trans at about 125,000 miles) when the rust was about to take over. This was a California vehicle and the rust was from poor body design by Chrysler!

While Ford can no longer control it foundation (see previous post) they sure make good trucks! I have had four since 1967. The GM vehicles in my overall family have all had some problems while my Fords kept on ticking. That's my opinion, at least.

Been a GM fan from day one.

I now own a 1966 Chevy 1/2 ton long bed with a nice little 350 in it along with an old powerglide trans.

I also own a 1981 Corvette that is a blast to drive.

Don't see any reason to go in debt for a new one when I get over 20mpg with either one of these.

Two years ago i took my old 1988 rear wheel drive Olds Cutlass Supreme Classic to Little Rock for an msha training class. I have poor night vision and I drove down at night, i kept it out of overdrive and drove pretty much at 50mph the whole way. I got 34 miles per gallon. And yes, i got the math right. I did it several times, and even let several other people do it. Same conclusion.
A year ago i went to my 20th class reunion. This time i kicked it up to 75 and used overdrive. I got 26mpg. Not as good, but for a 307 v8, not to darn shabby.
This Honda my grandmother left me is rated 16/24....and I'm here to tell ya, they ain't kidding. Very carefull driving is currently yielding me an average of 20mpg, but that includes alot of going to springdale on the weekends to see movies. On tanks that did not include that, i get 18mpg. Not good for the size and type of car it is. I need to get a motorcycle i think. I dunno.

As to the original topic of the thread..... I'm afraid there aren't too many places to spend money at that don't have at least some degree of liberal leaning when it comes to giving those tax deductable donations of theirs...

I have always been a Chevy fan, but have owned a few fords as well. You can get a good ford and you can get a bad ford, but GM has never let me down. I have owned at least 30 different cars and gm were always the easiest to work on. I earn my living repairing automobiles and it does't matter what make it is, they always break. It's just that gm seems to be the easiest and cheapest to fix. When it comes to brand new cars I think anything domestic is best. sure foriegn cars run forever, but up here they rot out real quick. After all they are made from old US made car scrap metal anyway.
