Winchester Model 62 - The Firearms Forum

As we all know the Model 62 is quite similar albeit with some modifications that are well documented to the Model 1890.
I have read that early (low serial #) Model 62 came with a metal butt plate instead of the plastic one that is typical of the Model 62.
My question revolves around the steel butt plate of the early versions of the Model 62 and that is whether anyone knows if the steel butt plates were of the crescent type steel butt plate that were standard issue for the Model 1890.
Would appreciate any input.

Hello Jeg,

No, they were not the same crescent style that used on the Model 1890. Instead, they were the flat (shotgun style) with the serrated horizontal grooves that were used on the Winchester Model 53 and 55.
