Default Iver Johnson 6 Shot ID help

I've recently inherited an Iver Johnson 6 shot top break revolver with a visible hammer. It's got a 3 1/4 in. barrel and I'm unsure of the caliber. I think it's either a .32 or a .38. The serial number with a prefix under the grip is H82287.

I'm dying to know whether this gun shoots the old black powder or smokeless powder cartridges. If anyone has any knowledge I'd love to know. I can also post some pictures if that will help.

Thanks!
